Default Stall speed ok for N2O?

I just picked up a Nitrous Outlet Wet EFI kit and was going to spray 100 shot. I am somewhat on a budget and would like to keep the cost minimal so I am going to use the fogger nozzle that came with the kit. Might upgrade to a plate or MAF kit later when $$ allows. I just recently had my torque converter restalled to a 4200 and was wondering if this would be ok with my combo in my '02 B4C in my sig? Shift point is set at 6600 RPM and I will pull some timing. Any help would be appreciated.

Sean

I just bought one from Yank and after telling the folks there that I would be shooting a NO plate system's 150 shot into my Firebird with a mild cam and P/P stage 2 TEA 243's they built me a 3600SS.

Hmmm, just upgraded from a 3600. Might have to pull the trans back out again, I guess?

IMO thats way too much stall but it depends on the weight of your car. And your torque. What does it flash to now on the motor? As a general rule of thumb figure 1000 over advertised stall on n2o so your looking at 5200 Which doesn't leave you a lot of rpm. I have a 2000 SS shop car and we have a 3000 stall in it with a 408 and a 300 shot and it flashes on the bottle at around 4500. Thats spraying a 125 out of the hole. It comes out around 3000 on the motor and we shift it at 7400.

Sounds like I need to rethink the stall speed, doh! It currently flashes around 3800 right now NA.

you might be alright if you're shifting at 6600 and it actually acts as a 4200 stall with your current mods.
those rpms are going to be up there.

Hmmm, I guess I can try it out, I will probably know if it blows through the converter?

Yes you will surely be able to tell. lol. I'd try it and see what it does at the track. The car will work but you will decrease the efficiency of the converter for sure.

man this has me thinking now. I have a yank ss4000 in my cam only car with 3.23 gears and I'm looking to spray a 150 shot as well. anyone have an opinion on that?

I went with a Yank SS3600 because Dave said a SS4000 might be too big if I sprayed a lot.

With 3.50 gears, the car was easily pulling 1.45 60fts and a 125 shot.

Hmmm, I think I will try it first and see what happens, I can always have another converter built I guess?

I didn't notice the part where you said 6600rpm. Mine is still at stock.

On a average street car a 3600 stall would be a better choice. You will normally see a few hundred RPMs more of stall on the juice.

I talked with Dave about restalling my SS3800 to an SS4000 and he said the same thing to me. He advised against the 4000 since i would be spraying. He said that if anything, If I was going to send it for a restall stepping it down a little to a SS3600 would probably work best. Since I hadnt run it yet I decided to leave it alone and try it as a 3800 and see how it went.

sean think its really going to depend on how tight that stall is. Like a ss4000 you can get away with but a pt4000 not so much (drew's red trans am with the ss4000 handled a 100 dry but tranny went soon after). Good luck, btw do any th400 swaps yet, my tranny's still good but leaving for a deployment and toying with the idea when I get back to throw rear and th400 with transbrake to set me up for the next step (along with a few other goodies)

Hmmm, I think my converter feels tighter than an SS4000, driven quite a few with that converter. I think I will try it and see what happens. Haven't done any TH400 swaps personally, but I am sure Nic would clue me in as to what would be needed. I have a supplier for anything that would be needed too so it wouldn't be an issue. Let me know what you want to do :-)

No, not yet. I actually just R&R'd the trans to swap converters yesterday. when i bought the car It had a ProTorque 2,800 in it which surprisingly worked awesome for the car with bolt-ons and a 100shot(1.6 60') but it wasnt enough to get me in the power band after the H/C/I swap.
