Default What block for NOS?

I'm considering a LSX for a nitrous eng! But not sure where to start? I'm very familiar with the SBC and I'd guess new to the LSX. Anyways, I wanna build a Nitrous motor for my 3300# 79 Malibu, it would have to make about 600rwhp and take about 300shot of nos. Now my question is: Is the LSX Block neccessary or will a 6.0L Iron block do? I'd like to go with a 400+cid! I've heard of a 402's, I guess that's a 4" stroke with a 4" bore? What's a good 6.0L block to start out with? Looking for a solid low9 to high 8 set-up I have access to good top-end but curious on block and donor parts info?
