Default Does anyone use AV gas?

Just curious, I used it in my dirt bikes back in th day, I think it was around 100 octane.

Anyone use it in they're car now?

Thanks

Its a low lead fuel and will sooner then later foul your O2's up..I know I replaced a couple after burning some..

AV gas is for Airplanes and dirt track cars.LOL
Av gas does not burn consistantly. Its desighned for higher altitudes.
However some people use it because it is cheap.

You can use just about any high-octane gasoline you want safely, as long as it's UNLEADED. At the drag strip here in KC, you can get up to 116 octane. But that's leaded. There is also a local gas station here that sells 100 octane UN-leaded. The lead is used to help boost the octane (high compression engines need to use a high octane fuel). The problem with leaded fuels is that it can, and usually does, clog up your cats and foul out/burn up O2 sensors. The only question I have is, what do they do in countries that have leaded fuels (i.e. Asia, Europe, Africa, and the others that I can't think of)?? Doesn't anyone make a sealed O2 sensor or something??

im wondering the same thing, since alot of people run around w/o cats anyway that is not a problem. now, if someone could make some sort of lead-resistant 02's i bet they would FLY off the shelves just because you can make so much more power and not have to buy new 02's all the time.

not to dig up an old thread, but from what ive heard, bosch makes lead resistant o2 sensors, allowing for leaded fuel.

Never heard of Bosch, but I know Denso does. There was an article in GMHPP a few months ago, I kept the issue since I am deployed to check them out later.
Just because its leaded doesnt mean its high octane either. Lead was used to cushion the valve seats, which werent as hard back in the day, it was basically a fuel added lubricant if you will. Yes it clogs up Cats, fouls up sensors, and there is always the debate that inhalation of exhaust is harmful too. My experience, having been deployed to Asia, Europe and Africa, currently in Afghanistan, there are very few places that have Leaded Petrol (gasoline), all the areas I have been in use Diesel, or a low grade, dirty unleaded gasoline.
