Default Bottle filling questions...

My buddy got a bottle fill station set up finally, and he has a few questions I don't know the answer to, so I'll ask the pros here:

He filled 2 10 lb bottles for me last night. One was empty, one was half full. His station has the pump, but they put the bottles in the freezer anyway. Anyway, the bottles have a full and empty weight listed on them, so he filled them to the "full" weight (about 25 lbs). What he noticed is the actual bottle pressure wasn't very high. After letting them sit all night at room temp (and weighing in at 25 lbs) the bottles were only at about 700 psi. He thought they should be higher. I have a heater on my car, so to be honest I never paid attention to pressure because I usually have to use the heater to get it up there anyway.

I guess we just wanted to make sure he's doing it right and not getting air in the bottles. I don't see how he could have.

650-700 is about right on a full room temperature bottle. Go by the weight.

Is there any way they got air in it? Or I guess, HOW do people manage to get air in their bottles? I always hear about a "bad fill", but with a pump and everything I don't see how thats possible?

We just wanna make sure we're doing it right.

In my experience, bad fills come when people try to squeeze the last ounce out of a mother bottle. You'll hear the compressor running constantly.

I do hot/cold refills. I've never had a problem, and am too cheap to buy a pump anyways. Just get the small bottle frozen and it'll take it all like $2 *****.

I had some guy swear he put 13lbs into a 10lb bottle when I picked it up. He was "hooking me up"

When the bottle (no gauge) blew the burst disc the minute heat touched it, needless to say I got all my **** replaced free.

I always bring bottles in frozen, when I get a bigger place I want to put a fill station in my house.

You will probably get a different answer either way. If the weight is right it shouldn't have air in it.

I freeze my bottles and they only read 600-700 after being filled, but they will come up once they get warmed up...

If I remember right a bottle has to be around 90* to get 1000psi.
