Guys keep in mind a solenoid that does not open is usually not due to trash being in the solenoid. Trash normally hangs it open.
Normally the reason for a solenoid not opening is having bottle pressure higher than what the solenoid is rated to open at. Poor wiring connections or not big enough gauge wire to carry the amp load. A week coil, and in some cases just a Cheap poorly designed solenoid.

Forgot about this thread! I added a heavy gauge ground wire directly from the battery negative terminal to the solenoid ground wire RIGHT before it enters the solenoid. Works great at 1000 PSI even though it only needs to be at 950!

I used a 1 foot long heavy wire directly to positive and the negative during my tests. Mine opens fine at 1000 psi as well, but my kit was designed to run at 1050, and it's hot here in florida, so pressure gets to 1150 at times, hsw fails to open at 1051.I'm in the middle of a new solenoid test now, just waiting on a fitting. It's a smaller nx noid I picked up on ebay.

Problem is back...and worse...the grounding is not an issue, checked all connections for continuity and it's all good. Must be a weak solenoid, gonna send it back to HSW I'm sure they will take great care of me!

Well finished testing noids at various pressures. Every time we tested we used a volt meter at the solenoid to check for 12 volts thereabouts. All test were performed at 1200psi, summer bottle pressure here in florida. First noid was my small NX carbon fiber noid from ebay, new condition. It to would not open at 1200psi. So I rechecked alll wiring again and all is good. Next is my large Iceman noid the came with my nx kit. It worked again all the way to 1200 psi and a bit above. Now I'm in the market for another large iceman noid to use as my purge.
To summarize:
Small CF noid wont open
HSW large noid wont open
NX iceman noid works great!!!!!!!!!!
Now I need to request my money back for an barely used HSW "Big Show" purge noid.Hopefully they won't give me any grief over it. I have wasted a few bottles testing .

I'm sure dynotune or nitrous outlet would do the same, but theirs would actually work.
I hope you are just advertising their logo and not a rep or salemans, because that remark wont cut it.

When you want a solenoid that can open at high pressures you need to buy one with a powerfull coild and a small oriface. That will always get you the best opening capablilty regardless of brand.
For example:
the "small or thumb" noids are available in .063 & .078" oriface, and they both use the same coil. I would assume your small NX noid was a .078". If you swapped it out for a .063" noid, then you would automaticly get 50% improved opening ability.
Same goes for the larger noids. They are usually available in .093" & .125"
Now, different manufacturers (NX, NO, NOS, HSW, Dynotune etc) will spec different coils for their noids, but that can be checked by measuring the ohm reading across the two coil wires. The lower the ohm reading the more powerfull the coil. You'll also see this when it comes to fuel noids, and see how weak fuel coils are in comparison to N20 coils.

I have a couple of the Lightning Pro Power noids from NX that I will be installing for next season that will hopefully end this problem once and for all. HSW did replace my nitrous solenoid for free though, but I'm going to use it for a dry shot in another car.

My large .93 orifice nx noid opens, but I see you point. The HSW is .123 I believe. Will check the ohms on them too.The solenoid just needs to say will not function properly above 1050psi, then people won't mistakenly buy them.
