big dry shot question
big dry shot question ok im building a 347 iron block ls1. im using a stock crank with diamond 11500pistons and callies compstar rods a vengence vindicator cam and 243 or 5.3 heads ls6 intake. i know ima catch heat for it but i wanna run a 250 to 300 dry shot of nitrous. i will be using a harris speed works nitrous interface controller so i can use a plate system style from nos i just blocked off the fuel side i will also be upgrading to a walbro 255 fuel pump. i also have a window switch from nos. my question is how big of injector do i need to run for a 250 to 300 shot of nitrous. i was thinking 60 should do the trick but i really dont know, also does anyone on here use callies compstar rods? are they any good? and also what about the diamond pistons any body took em to the limit? can anyone help me out with this
Now 250-300 through the front of these intakes will be interesting to say the least and you will want to check distribution as you go up in shot. dont start at 250 please.
Im also not sure you can add enough fuel with the interface with that much nitrous. and 60's should be enough fuel.
It is why I said I Think. At least my info, even if being wrong wouldn't lead to anything being blown up or broken. Good to know, I don't know much about different setups other than generally a dry shot on these cars is before the MAFS (easier way) and a Wet Shot is after while adding fuel at the same time.

I just didn't know about running a Dry w/o using a mass air meter. I have the NOS 5177 kit on my car, even though it never gets used nor do I have a feed line for it on the car at the moment. I like N2O, just not something I use often, at least not in the last 3.5 years.

Wrong... Alot of fast nitrous cars out there are running big dry shots with out spraying in front of the maf. Thats old technology man... Search rober56 and read his web page, lots of good info there.
At your level i think a direct port would be very helpful.
Even a good tune is going to have trouble keeping up with the distribution issues of going through the stock style intakes.
I would try to keep it at/below a 200 shot and get a REAL good handle on the tune up before trying to up it spraying the way you plan.

yeah dont plan on goin 250 right away im still building the motor so with my motor i have right now im gonna do a 100 to 150 shot for a while til i c what it will do then once i swap engines move up to 200 or 250. and yes with the nitrous interface it will do up to a 300 i think but ill have to get something to do timing cause it will only do 3 degrees i believe.. id like to do a direct port dry eventually i just was wondering if it would be possible with a plate system. also if i do go direct port anyone know what would be the best way to go. get a vic jr style intake with the elbow and drill the nitrous bosses? or should i just stay with a ls6 intake?

Do not... DO NOT try and run a vic jr without a cam ground for it. The ls6 intake and the vic share nothing in common and neither do the cam profiles that maximize them.
You can always try the iat sensor trick. If you search it you can find a decent amount of info on it.
200 should be fine on the plate, again, with a good handle on the tune. Once you get that spot on you can always try a 330' pass and pull the plugs and see how the distribution is on the 250 jet.
