Default head gaskets?

i have a stock 1998 z28 that i swapped in a 2004 lq4 into i had the block decked .015 to raise the compression i am running stock internals and a set of unported factory 243 heads.

i just added a 100 shot plate kit put down good numbers made 481 on spray ran about a bottle and a half threw it and i popped the head gasket. Thank god i caught it before it got bad just barley blew it never over heated it.

i am sure that using stock head bolts is probably what caused it i was wondering what kinda head gaskets should i use? i am definitely going to use a set of ARP head bolts this time. any ideas on what gasket i should be using?

What hole did it pop on? I would fork out the cash and get some studs. Any damage to the heads?

Comtics and arp will help but I bet the problem is in the tune up.
You should never hurt something on a 3-4 second dyno pull.

The car has to live at least twice that long going down track.

Good luck getting it fixed.

Same here... You aren't making enough cyl pressure at those power levels to "stretch bolts". Post the tuneup so we can figure it out for ya. My bet is too much timing.

Listen to ATV and ryarbrough. I hit a 200 on the dyno with only pulling 5* of timing and ran good on the dyno, stock head bolts and head gasket stayed together. Ran good, made 558 rwhp thru a th350 and a 12bolt. First pass at the track BOOM. Spun 2 rod bearings and bent those 2 rods. All from detonation. I think ATV might remember my thread.

Don't ask me why I only pulled 5* on a 200. ATV and ryarbrough already beat me up over it

the timing on the motor is very conservative at 23* it has had about 2 bottles ran threw it.

all on the 100 shot i was going to spray a 150 but then i found out it had a blown head gasket issue

Maybe the head gasket wasnt installed right to begin with?

Something isnt right thats for sure and its not the stock bolts that caused it. IMO.

Sounds like you already had an issue before you started spraying it.

Did you get the 243's trued before putting them on? I am with everyone else, a 100 shot and stock head bolts wasnt the problem.

Eh.... Projected tip plugs aren't the best for nitrous...

Trust who you will, but plenty of people are stuck on using a TR6 instead of the right plug.

Whats the power adder of this 2010 camaro? If its nitrous I bet he's not running a tr6. Just because it works doesn't mean it correct for your setup.
