Default Is it time to say goodbye to nitrous?

So I have had my fun getting into the 9's and building a great and terribly fun car. I will be moving to California to for medical reasons and to get out of the god forsaken state of Utah in less than 5 months.
I am dumbing down the car for C.A.R.B. requirements.
The longtubes are gone.
The cats are back in their proper places.
The cam is about 10 degrees smaller.
The QA1s are replaced with Konis/Stranos.
Lastly and most importantly, I don't see myself ever going to a drag strip again.

So with a setup now built for the street, is there any reason whatsoever within any practical purpose to keep the juice on the car?
In its current condition it will probably still withstand an occasional 200 shot. As it is, I am leaning towards saying goodbye to the good times I had with it. And yes, they were a hell of a lot of fun.

Thoughts?

u can still run nitrous here in CA just dont let the cops see it. and when SMOG comes around u just cant have it 100% percent hooked up. no bottle in the car and no noids hooked up. than just go home and put it back on. u r also gonna want to make sure ur cam has no more than -4* of overlap or it wont pass.

KEEP IT. cuz when u see all these damn evos and cobras that want to play just push the button and leave em in the dust.

Yup, its like -7*. CheaTR v.3. Kinda small, but will be fun. Especially after coming down from 7500+ density altitudes! My 9.8 was all the way down in Vegas.
Maybe I just go dry and pull all of the complications of the wet shot?

Let me ask this another way:
I'll be 31 when I move down there.
Lets say that I do see someone in a Cobra or an Evo and I hit the button. Lets even say that I luck out and no one is hurt and that no cops see it. If you saw your professor racing on the street, would you have a hint of respect whatsoever left for him?

Its an auto (for faster track times with a stall, go figure). A manual does not particularly interest me. What does interest me is the day the 6l80e paddle shift swap becomes more accessible! I'm trying to turn the car in to a Grand Tourer.

I would keep it. Or at least keep it where you can keep it if you need it. Good luck on the move man.

Well, I think almost anyone on this site would just call that a bad *** Professor. Maybe make threads like "I got my *** handed to me by my Professor!". But I pick up what you're getting at. I think Im just immature as hell. I dont go too many days without breaking the speed limit. But hey, way to make the mature decision man. Career is first.

Since you've significantly reduced the exhaust efficiency/changed cams, and will need a retune anyway, I'd keep the spray and tweak the A/F ratio as needed. If you've already had it retuned, then personally it's a no-brainer. Keep it.

I for one would. One of my best friends (rip) was a math professor and raced many many bikes to 200mph.

Thanks for all of the input. It is coming off this week. My wife made me a deal. If 1 year after we move I regret having pulled it, she will let me go forced induction instead . I suppose look for some good parts in the for sale section in the next few days!

Bad-as wife. But a nice Pt88 set-up from Kentucky -Turbo would run damn good. And best thing about boost is it's free after its on. No more filling up bottles or worrying about pressure.

My teacher when I was in high school used to race in the 10.5 class here in Texas. She was one cool lady. So yes teacher that race are cool and respected. Just if your into street racing don't get caught or you job could be on the line.

That is precisely where I am coming from. I do not street race at all. I had a license plate frame that said "6.3 Liter Viper Eater" for years and somehow it made me feel better about myself. I've outgrown that (I think/hope) which is probably exactly what my wife is banking on making me the deal with the turbo.

Also, give me a day or two and I'll get some pictures taken of the parts that I have. I'll send them to you guys before I post them in the for sale section, so anyone who sees this, post up and I'll send send you a P.M. with prices and dibs.
