Default Cons of nitrous

Im going to be putting a kit on soon, but before i do i wanted to know what the disadvantages are, preferably from those that have ran spray. I can already think of some: Cost and inconvinence of filling, kinda illegal on the street, risk on engine/fuel fail, ect. Some that i was thinking of were more along the lines of practicality. If you want to be street racing you gotta keep the bottle warm all the time taking however long for it to heat up? Running out of spray, finding places to fill, stuff like that that someone might not think about till they've had experience with it.

There are alot of misconceptions on nitrous. I ran it for about three years on the Camaro and really didnt have many issues with it. First and foremost, check your plugs and plan on keeping an extra set around. Sometimes its hard to bind a set of colder plugs int the middle of the night for those Mexico runs.
If I had plans on running I always placed my bottles in the bathtub with hot water to saturate the nitrous so to speak. Its really easy to heat the bottle to reach 950psi. or so and have it fall off quickly. when I soaked them and then used the heater to "maintain" them it helped greatly. I also strongly recomend running a wideband, you will know almost instantly if somethings up.

I just started running it this year. I only use it at the track. I have 2 (10lb) bottles which I always keep one full. I also have a heater anf progressive controller with wideband. If air/fuel gets out of wack it shuts off. I also have bottle pressure monitored where the nos will not kick in if falls below my set parameter.

You will have to watch the plugs to see what is going on more closely. I love it!

This is a great sticky to read and learn everything you need to know to get started!
I found it really helpful.

If memory serves me the wideband was $200 and so was the progressive controller. It is worth it to spend a few bucks to be safe. Very trick I might add as well.

The controller:

When I got mine last year I went all out cause I wanted to make sure I had everything. Do it safely and it will be great. Run the right plugs, have the correct amount of timing pulled, get some gauges to monitor what's going on, and a window switch is a must.

I recently got a NANO kit and it's one of the best things I've added cause I don't have to worry about pressure dropping. Only con I can think of is the bottle running out.

This is kinda off topic, i was talking to my friend and he said a wet shot isnt going to require a tune (ignition retarding), is this true? After doing research i figured a wet shot will involve more things potentialy going wrong than dry and how the hell is where its being mixed at effect ignition?? its either getting mixed before or after but its all going to the same place so the tune will either be needed or not for both, right?

Stop listening to your buddy. Its not that it will require a tune, its more that you have to pull timing with the shot. I ran 11.20's with no tune, just bolt-ons and a 150 shot and pulling timing with my timing tuner. I got a dyno tune when I put the heads and cam on. I ran a wet shot and had no issues.

The biggest con about nitrous is when you don't have it....and the other guy does.

Buy my kit. Ill take off some dough and keep the mount and plate so you can buy one for the ls1. It doesnt get more complete than this. Plus with a NANO kit you dont have to worry about heating your bottle ever.

As far as pulling timing I use the Lingenfelter box. As far as my tuner for my dyno tuning needs I use Geoff@EPS

Oh you can just get a box to pull the timing? I was thinking one of the handheld tuners or something, prob alot more expensive huh..
