Right now I have 4:56s and love them on the street and in on the motor..I dont want the car to be a turd off the bottle if I do 4:10s..I think 4:30s are my choice..

ZMG i believe we might have 4:32 gears that im not using that came out of the '67

EDIT: my 3.73 gears run perfect through 3 gears NA thru the 1/4 mile (12.50's) with my 700-r4.. do you think when i spray my 150 shot that i will rap out in 4th gear? if it doesnt come close to redline i think 4.10s are in order..my 3.73's howl REALLY bad

Depends how much mph you pick up. I dont think you run out of gear. If you do just a taller tire will help that.

Ok, I know this thread hasnt had a post in a lil while but i have a question like the OP..I have a 98Z28 w/ T56 (6spd) im currently running 4.56 gears and im running out of gear on motor..I shift into 5th gear and the car just falls off with hardly any power..I need to bang out 4th to stay strong in the 1/4 but theres too much asphault left to stay in 4th...

Im running a 26x11.50 ET Street bias ply tire on a 15x10 Draglite wheel..Car launches hard off the line and pulls good but when i hit 5th gear its like the motor is running on 4 cylinders..Should i swap to 410s?? I have a 150hp shot but havent sprayed yet due to probs on my NA Passes..

One more time- with a 26" tire 4.30 max gear NA and 4.10 max on spray-with a 28" tire max NA is a 4.56 and 4.30 max on spray. So to GT eater who has 4.56 gears - you have too much gear if you plan on spraying the car, you do not want to use 5th gear in the qrt. So you might want to switch your gears but keep in mind that most stick cars on spray need a 28" tire to get the most out of the set up.

Sounds like I goofed in my gear selection of 3.89's. Figured since I hit the rev limit (4th gear with 4.10's) @ 1/4 line on 28" tall tires N/A that 3.89 would be a good choice for a 6 speed car.

Wait what mph and 60ft you running?

For the guy with 4:56 gears, I ran those with my motor NA with 27x10.5 and loved it but as soon as the nitrous went on the car i went straight to 4:10s and honestly it pulls hard to 132mph but with 28" a 4:30 is almost a must.

I went with 4:30 in my 9". You can always adjust with tire height. I agree with you too on the weight factor, these cars are heavy and it takes a lot to get them moving. I haven't ran mine yet but will soon hopefully.

MPH 121-123, 1.65 was the best 60 ft. .... that was with a 12 bolt and 4.10's as well as a different cam profile. Suspension parts not as nice then as they are now.

So I'll prob go ahead with a taller tire and maybe a lil less gear than the 4.56 I'm running.. I really want to spray so I'll go ahead with these mods and see where I'm at..

I have the ms3, 12 bolt with 4.11's and 26" MT 305's. My limiter is at 7100, but I shift the car around 6700...

all motor I am going through the traps at the track at the top of 4th, revving it out to 7k.

On the bottle I can only spray 2nd, 3rd and 4th before running out of gear before the traps. I personally am going down to a 3.73's because on the bottle, 4.10's are too much for my linking. Although All these runs at the track were on street tires. I havent been there yet with my 12 bolt on stickys. All the runs were on my 10 bolt with 4.10's.

everyone is different. You might be very happy with the 4.10's over any other gear. The only way to truthfully know is to try it. Then make changes later.

I was in your same boat 8 months ago or so on here. I made a similar thread about 4.10's before my nitrous. I went with what people told me I would like, and I dont like them.

Yea I know what you mean.. Each car runs and hooks a lil different depending on driver.. I'm going with the 4.11s just to be safe.. It'll give me more play room through the gears and still be good enough to launch the car with a 1.5 60ft hopefully..I should be able to spray through the gears and I hope it stays in 4th but we will see..

28x10.5x15S MT ET Drags with a 4:30 on the hose will work quit running small sidewall slicks all it is doing is hurting and if you are going to run a ET Street you might as well put it on a drag radial and go faster
