Default 6 Speed What Gear?

Im tossing up the idea of putting the bottle on my car(150), and torn between a 4:10 and 4:30. Full Weight, MS4, 6 Speed, 28in tire..Most Cam Nitrous cars are trapping 130-136,

Just lookin for more thoughts...

Damn Same question I have. Me and the op I believe have the same gear 4.56, I thinking if going 4.30 and I still want to go faster which I will, I run out of gear again, I am thinking 4.10s would be a happy medium but dont know.

Iv done a gear tire calculator all night, searched and it seems like 4:10s seem to be the best bet. Room to grow...But Idk if my heavy pig will ever reach much more than than 130..

I have 4.33 rear gears and 26-inch ET Streets. I trap at 129 MPH and 7100 rpm on nitrous and 120 MPH @ 6600 rpm N/A. I'm running out of gear on the juice but I don't want 4.10s because my setup is ideal for N/A so I plan to try a 27-inch tire for nitrous.

You want as much gear as you possibly can without running out of MPH. Especially with 28 tall tires. Unless your in the upper 130's go 4:30's

I'd go 4.30's unless you plan on upping the shot much. You should pick up around 9-11mph with a well tuned 150 shot.

What about a 200 shot with a 28 tire. I would imagine it bring it up a couple hundred RPMs.

Hi, what are you trap rpm's/???? You want to reach your maxpower/torque
with the gear of your choice.4.30's seem pretty tall for your application.......
I assume you are still driving on the street from your post...take everything into consideration prior to making your final decision. Have a blessed week....

Jim, thank you for verifying what i have told him in person....I also personally think 4:30s will be too steep to spray out of the hole, with his setup.

If your up in the air about the bottle but your going to run a 28" tire go with 4.30 gears .4.10 gears with a 28" tire will fall flat on it's face unless you plan on doing 7k clutch dumps and I bet it still bogs down and you will be slapping a set of 26" slicks back on the car.

Well the Nitrous gains in MPH will really have a solid impact on your gearing. If you would like I can work you up a quote for a system so you can see how everything looks on paper before you decide to pull the trigger on the bottle and the gear swap.

Like said above having to little gear can make launching a t56 harder if not impossible to launch effectively. Give me a shout lets see if you need to go ahead and optimize for NA or if we can fit the spray into the near future for you.

if he sprays out the hole with 4:30's, he'll blow the tires off every time IMO

^^^ Thats where a nice 28 bias ply and spot on suspension and good shocks come into play.

I think 4:10s give me room to grow later if I want to build a motor and spray a bigger shot. 4:30s would be good for in the middle (for motor or a bottle pass) but limits me on MPH on the jug

You asked the question and got two different answers. Look who's giving you the answers. The guys that run fast, nitrous running stick cars are telling you 4:30's. The guys that don't know how to hook a stick car or know how to go fast are saying 4:10. It's simple. 28 tall tire ET Drag will grown to 29 at speed. At 7,000 rpm you can go 140mph with 4:30 gears. You are a long way from going 140 in a full weight car. I'm at 650 rwhp, cut 1.40 60fts (plan on 1.3's this year) in a 3200lb car and i'm pulling my 4:10's out and going back to 4:30's.

Just sayin.
