Default Purging nitrous through engine!

I do not believe in this at all, but there are alot of guys I know that do it. Even after they purge it across the windshield, before they stage, they rev it up in neutral and activate the system. I'm just looking for some more opinions on this. Thanks

Personally I think that any way you purge a system will work fine. I think alot of people do it with a silonoid for consistantcy on the times. Keeping the pressure at the same temp is crucial and too much pressure is never good. Personal pref I believe......Oh and purge flying up over the hood looks Bitch.......

I prefer a purge kit but I have done it many times on my old Fox Body Stangs. it doesn't hurt as long as you do it right.

Seems like the concept would be the same as dry shooting a pellet gun or something though.. The resistance or opposing force that is normaly there isnt and then it is alot harsher, more impact/damaging. This isn't the case?

You will never get a answer on this questions, you will always get mixed replies and people that swear by purging into the motor and people that don't. I have purged through the motor on many cars and never hurt anything. I have been told by several big engine builders that its hard on the rings purging through the motor but seen some of the same engine builders do it on there own car.

It can be harder on the bearings, but lots of people still do it. It's called a bang button.

The purge regulates pressure and gets nitrous to the solinoid.

The bang button does the same, but gets the fuel side purged as well. It also cools the intake runners off a bit.

I have seen people use the normal purge to regulate bottle pressure and then "rock the motor" using only the nitrous solenoid in order to clean the plugs.

We have never saw a negative affect of purging through the engine, under the right circumstances.

I can imagine a 500+of NOS on an engine to do this but I had done this in the past
On my old school 350ci with no problems.

I have done it also. I haven't hurt anything in doing it. I made sure that I was above 3000 rpms in park and tap the button.

I also do it to be . Go to the track and your competition shows up. Purge into the air or into the motor and then make a pass on motor only. Bam! They think you sprayed to run a 11.50

I would not motor purge nitrous without fuel. Both noids should should be hit, and you best be prepared to kill it in the event the noid sticks.

It sounds like spaying below 3000 rpms. Not ideal but many guys do it and get away with it.
