Default Engine temperatures

I have a 150 shot wet kit on my car the AFR is right around 11.5 to 12.0 at WOT. I notice my engine temperature increase quite rapidly from 160 to 210 when I'm spraying. Is it normal to see temperature increase because of the increased cylinder pressure or should I start looking for cooling system problems or any other issues?

I'd be surprised if your car is running at 160.....these cars tend to run 200*-210* pretty much all of the time.

I have the 160 thermostat in it and according to the temp gauge during normal driving the needle stays just a little above the 160 mark and when I'm using the nitrous it jumps up to the 210 mark.

What does it do under WOT without the nitrous?

This. Are you sure its running at 160? Do you have the fans tuned or have any read outs? If it is, even with it going to 210 its not bad because that is a normal oporating temperature, though i doubt it would spike that hard..

Mine ran pretty cold back in the day we had both fans commanded to come on at 165*

Regardless it is normal for the temp to jump up when spraying it.

i run about the same temp 160 or less, and mine also jumps to about 200 or so on a 175 shot, i also have an issue with the #8 plug being blown out at times. you should be good unless you over heat it or spray it when its to hot

Well apparently it was only a 1 time deal where it jumped to 210. I made 2 run tonight and the temp gauge only get up a little above 185 on both runs. When I had the computer tuned the temp setting were also changed to work with the 160 thermostat i installed.

You cannot rely on the stock temp gauge to get an accurate reading. Unless you have a scanner that is reading actual coolant temperature, you have no idea how hot it is running.
