Default Gearing for cam motor and nitrous

I am ordering a S60 and am trying to figure out what gears to run. I have a m6 ls1 with ms3 cam bolt-ons 389 rwhp na and just bought a Nitrous Outlet wet plate kit. I am probably only going to run a 100 and later a 150. I am running 555r's right now but will run slicks later once I get a little extra cash. I have done the calculators and don't
think that I will run out of gears and could run 28" if I needed to. I just can't decide between 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10's. At the most I will have 650hp on nitrous in the future when I rebuild the motor. Some people say lower gear and others say higher gear.....I just need a little help.

At least 3.90s I would say. I have 3.90s in my car and it worked great w/ the nitrous. I have a 228r cam btw. I should have been going through the traps near the top of 4th from what I was told, never made it to the track on the bottle.

Depends on tire size, rpm range and mph

Yes. Very dependent on those factors.

Look around the net and there are many drag race calculators around to help out here.

Hp and weight will dictate trap speed. From there, selecting gear ratio is really a math exercise based on tire size. Tough part is to be realistic on hp and get your trap speed right.

S60 sounds like a great choice. Who's drive shaft are you planning to use?

I'm also running the MS3 cam on my H/C car with a S60 rearend, 373's, and 26" slicks but mine is an A4(HSW 150 shot wet plate kit as well). Since yours is an M6, I would say 3.90's with 28" slicks. JMHO

Oh I forgot to mention, I have some used 4.10 gears for S60 in case you happen to change your mind about the ones you bought! Nothing wrong with them just swapped them out for the 373's.

with nitrous, isnt the thinking behind gears, The longer time you have to spray the better, or just trying to hit a gear you can cross the traps at?
