Default Completely New to Nitrous

Okay, so the past few weeks I've been pondering running a bottle. I just read JL ws-6 sticky for newbs and got some pretty good information, however, knowledge is power and I'm open for any suggestions and opinions. I have a ls6 motor with full exhaust, and most of my mods in the sig. I have the stock injectors and just put in a brand new fuel pump. Also, the tranny is built with a 2800 stall. She dyno'd 350 with the converter unlocked. I felt the number's were a little low, but I will have track time next weekend. Anyways, this is my DD, for now, and I will only be spraying at the track which I go to probably 3 times a year. I might spray against a few cars at school, but only if it's needed or money is on the line.

My question is, what are my main concerns (things breaking or giving out), which system would probably be the best bet for my set up, I will not go above a 150 and if i go with the bottle, what are some things that will NEED to get upgraded.

Sorry for being such a noob at this, don't bash me too hard! I'm just trying to get the most info before I take the plunge. also, is tuning required after install. Or if I stay around a 100 shot, should i be safe to run it without a tune.

Your dyno numbers sound great for an A4. It looks like you're ready for a wet shot as you have bolt ons, stall, and already have a fuel pump. I'd pick up a used wet nitrous kit OR give Nitrous Outlet a call and let them hook you up.

Tuning is definitely required. It's mainly pulling the plugs out to check the timing but you don't want to go cheap and not pull any timing back or check anything out. Look around the forums, maybe give Nitrous Outlet a call and you'll be good to go.

What's your budget ? Will you deal with nitrous as your power adder or just for time being ? What is your tuning plans since you need to run N/A most time ?

Answering these questions will let us help you

i literally just got my car tuned and I'm a college student so I don't have the funds to run an extremely expensive kit. I'd like to stay under $1000 for a kit if that's possible. I haven't checked prices yet. With tuning, that's what I wanted to ask, if I was to only hit the button a few times a year, should i have the tuner pull out some timing...or leave it how it normally would run NA.

The wet kit is what I'm leaning to so far, and probably a 100 shot, or 125 shot. I'll give nitrous outlet a call on Tuesday after the holidays to get an idea on pricing and what kit they suggest. I just wanted to see what the Ls1tech community would have to say.

I appreciate the answers so far, I'm just trying to get an idea of what's out there.

also, I plan to build a new motor in 2 years, I have a 6.0 iron block sitting around, I just need to graduate first. So, I would like to transfer this kit to the next motor if that's possible.

Thanks again for dealing with my questions. I plan to research more in the next few days, but wanted to know what you all think

If you want to run na mostly then you are going to want to invest in the use interface or lingenfelter timing controller. Both will give you the option of pulling the timing when you use the bottle.

For your budget it seems like you will need NO/NX/HSW wet nozzle

Spend the rest on heater, window/wot switches, timing tuner

You will have a good system that activates safely via the switches, you can pull timing when you want to destroy the feeling of the school mates as long as you pump the bottle pressure to 950 - 1000 psi where it should be through the bottle heater

The right spark plugs for the size of shot you are looking for is NGK BR7EF gapped to .035

You can also throw gauges as future mods .. AFR, N2O Pressure, Fuel Pressure

I have one question .. What is the brand of the fuel pump you just swapped ???

I had speed inc put in a walbro 255 in while it was getting tuned, along with ngk 55 spark plugs and msd wires. The timing controller looks exactly like what I'm looking for! how much does the timing controller, heater and switches normally run?

The answers are awesome so far, thanks guys

I would shoot for the 150 shot, NO,HSW have all the prices on there web sites, and I agree for a a4 car those numbers are pretty good.

thanks for the comments guys, i'm looking at prices as we speak. Will spraying a 150 shot be harmful or do most ls motors handle the occasional 150 shot pretty well?

If by occasional you mean all day every day, yes.

These guys lined it out pretty well for you. The big thing about keeping it safe is the things other than the system.

Things like the Fuel pressure safety switch and nitrous filter. A window switch is golden as well.

If you need a hand or some prices give me a shout.
