would having plugs gapped WAY too narrow cause me to run rich?
i'm it wouldnt matter too much, but last time i checked my plugs they were gapped at .035 (thats how they came out of the box) they are tr6's, i know for sure i dont need that small of a gap. i was thinking something like .42 which would still a little narrow. i dyno'd at 243rwhp but i also have 100shot.
2000 sierra 4.8L lt headers, intake, exhaust, hypertech, 100shot
thanks

alright thanks, so much for a semi-simple explanation to why it runs so rich, lol

.035 gap is about where MOST of us FI guys run our TR6's... anywhere from .031 to .039 from what I've seen.
You need to make sure we have all your info to speculate on why you may be running rich.
Have you changed injectors or added/changed a fuel pump? Are you running Power Programming with your Hypertech? You could likely lean it out some rright there.
Do you know WHERE you are running rich (what RPM range)?
Do you know for a fact that you started to run rich only after you replaced the plugs? Did you also replace wires? Have you checked to make sure you didn't bump a plug and nearly close the gap on one or more plugs? (It DOES happen.)
etc.

Do you even KNOW if you are REALLY running rich. How did you determine that?

well, the way i determined it was by smelling my exhaust, kinda smelled like gas, but maybe it was just the fumes messing w/ my head... i dunno
j/k yep, i know for SURE
on the AUTOTAP log, i saw them go over 1.00 on the top end (on nitrous)
the average for that run was .98, so that too was still real rich, but man, over 1, thats kinda rich...
i do still need to get a n/a run, but my dad is stingy w/ his laptop and that makes my autotap cable quite useless till i get my own haha
bryan
*edit* i am running stock everything except the mods i have listed, no injectors, or fuel pump or anything crazy like that. (headers, intake, exhaust, hypertech (no tuning) 100shot)

Do you know for a fact that you started to run rich only after you replaced the plugs? Did you do anyting else about the time that happened?
Is it possible you ALWAYS run rich? ie, have you ever checked it and known it was normal or even lean?

Re: would having plugs gapped WAY too narrow cause me to run rich?
well, i still need to make a log of running all motor to see how that does. i have had the plugs in for a while now (since june i would say) so i dont know if it was running rich before i put in the plugs.
