So are they related or what? Doesn't it matter? <img src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" border="0" alt="[hail]" />

It does matter somewhat. With the ls1, you have enough in factory trim. What is more important is the piston design. You want a flat top piston for better flame travel/complete burn. A domed piston interferes with the flame travel and costs you hp not to mention you get a wider and longer flame travel with a flat top which is much better for a big shot of nitrous(much more efficient). Anywhere from 9.5-1 to 12.5-1 should be fine for a 250 shot but just make sure you use a piston that has a top ringland that can take the abuse a 250 shot can give. Go with a flat top with a coated top and nitrous designed and make sure you run plenty of fuel system and fuel octane. Running lean or detonating on a 250 shot can be very costly.2 steps colder plugs would be beneficial also. I have some parts laying around if you need an idea of what can happen. Ever seen a hood get blown completely off a car?

This may help with an answer to your question:

It's still a little blury to me. I'd like to hear some more responses.

Y2K Blackbird,

Did you blow the hood off your car?

Mike, I use to run a nitroused stang and yes, I blew the hood completely off the car on launch. To make me feel even better, Steve Earwood(Rockingham) made a joke over the loudspeakers giving me a top 5 nitrous explosion award. It was so nasty that it spit a piece of intake through the fender and broke my battery cable(trunk mounted battery/thick cable) in half.I was told it shot a flame at least 10 feet high. I've had a few others but that one was horrific. It was all caused by moisture in the nitrous line(long story). Still not scared to run it though. You just have to be cautious as the amount you use rises.
