Ahhhhhh....I could not get theses posted to save my life.

Anyways....some of you guys were interested in the nitrogen setup so I finaly got some pics. The small bottle on the right holds 3000 psi of nitrogen and has a regulator that regulates the pressure down to whatever I set it at. Usually 1150 psi. It is plunbed into the neck of the Nos bottle. When I get a newly filled bottle and its at..say...800psi. I open the nitrogen bottle, twist the regulator handle and jsut instantly dial up 1150 psi. When you make a run you can hear the nitrogen squeeling as its going into the Nos bottle, replacing the Nos and maintaining a near perfect 1150 all the way down the track.

The switch panel has three rockers in a row and one momentary. The momentary is for the purge. The first rocker arms stage 1 and illuminates the green annunciator and it says "ready". The second rocker arms stage 2 and illuminates the amber annunciator that says "AIM". The third rocker is for a bottle heater(dont use that much anymore).
The third red annunciator to the right lights up when the WOT switch is activated when spraying and says "FIRE!" complete with exclamation point and all. So when your spraying it says READY, AIM, FIRE!.

Who let SlowMar on the board.. He is not allowed to post again until he puts a LS1 in his Cobra.. That would be the perfect combo.. LS1 beats Mod Motor with 150 shot of nitrous any day.. Whenever you want proof you know where to find me...

Now those are two passengers I would not mind pimpin around Very cool setup, why did you choose this over a bottle warmer to keep pressure regulated?

The warmers took forever on cold days and even longer when the bottle was less than half. Plus it was a drain on the electrical system and my battery is in the back. Also..when you use a bottle heater and you start your run at say 1150 psi...at the end of the track i would be down to 1000 or so and that would be worse with a big shot(which I will eventually have). With the nitrogen you just dial it up to 1150 and it stays there the whole run. I like it. It was worth 2 mph on back to back tests using bottle heater VS nitrogen both starting at 1150 psi with a 140 shot dry.

This is cool... we made a similar setup while we had ICE nitrous systems about 10 years ago - sold the patent to barry grand for the nitrousworks. Don't think he ever used it. Carl Moyer used to run it on his Pro Mod car - called it 'the push'

Hey! I gots love for the LS-1 people. If it wasn't for the fact f-bodies were so hideous and uncomfortable to drive, i'd be in one right now

Love it!

I've beenm eyeing this type os system for a long time, but for now I'll settle just to get the nitrous flowing. Where does one go about getting a nitrogen bottle and regulator and such. Looks like your just plumbing into on the the Aux ports on the NOS Super Hi-Flo Valve?

You can get a nitrogen bottle at any welding supply store. If you want your own...go to Haring cylinder.com. They have nitrous bottles ,nitrogen bottles whatever. Very cheap, amy size you want. The regulator you can get from like Granger or any major industrial supply place. The regulator is a little pricey, and get a larger Nitrogen bottle than I have. It runs out quick. But I have access to as much nitrogen I want from work for free. This is not for everyone....more for the hardcore track guy, or someone like me who has a hookup.

How do you keep the 2 gases from mixing? And how do you know when you are running out of N20?Looks and sounds like a cool set-up!!!!

When the nitrous is under pressure in the bottle its in liquid form. And the pickup tube is at the bottom. Imagine the Nos bottle full of water with 1150 psi of nitrogen ontop. It will push down ontop of the Nos and force it up the tube. Nitrogen is inert and will not react with any other chemical. As far as knowing when its empty...i usually know within a few lbs when its low. Bad part is the bottle has to be completely purged befor refilling...you may waste a lbd or two doing this.

You have a list of all the parts you used?Might really be interested in trying this in my C5!

Too cool, they're just on the other side of town.

What's the ration of pounds N2 to N20 roughly?

Really there are only three parts needed. An inert gas regulator capable of regulating 3000 psi, a cylinder(preferably the size of a ten lb bottle) with an inert gas valve, and a schreader valve that will fit in the Nos port on the Nos valve. Then just some An-4 lines to connect it all together.

The small cylinder I have will push an entire 15lb bottle as long as it was serviced to 2700-2900 psi. But most welding supply places will only fill to 2500. Thats why a bigger nitrogen bottle serviced to 2500 would be better.
This may be more of a PITA for some. But this system does work and works well, regardless of temperature. And I believe all things being eqaul...it will give better results at the track. If your just running around o the street I would say stick with a heater.

I talked to my girlfriends dad this weekend, he runs pro-mod bikes, they have had alot of problems keeping bottle pressure up using such small bottles, they have used the nitrogen method in teh past, be he said that he had alot of ploblems with nitrogen contaminating the nitrous when the tank got low, they also have tried using 2 tanks one large one smaller, using the same pushing method, by kicking the smaller tank on off the line, and turning the larger tank on about half track to keep the pressure up, neither way to keep the pressure really worked to well for them, so in the end they tuned for lower bottle pressure, and got the best results from that.

My Girlfriends dad, has ran pro-mod bike for 10+ years won 2 national Championships (MRB Racing) runs 1428cc bike with 17.5 to 1 compression, and a ton of nitrous so I take his word very highly.

I think his problem with contamination was due to the small bottle. Probably sloshing around so much the nitrogen was able to get to the pickup tube and dilute the nos. With the bigger bottles its not a problem. The two Chemicals will not mix though....under any circimstances. Its just important to ensure the postion of the bottle will not allow the pickup tube to be uncovered by the Nos. Not a big deal, especially with a tall 15 lbder. Im sure on a bike with a very small bottle it would be difficult.
