Default LS1 Responsiveness to Nitrous..

Hey all,

I hope this hasn't been discussed ad naueseum, but I couldn't find what I was looking for...

I've been reading through, and it seems the LS1 takes very well to Nitrous. I've seen quite a few situations where the person was running a small shot, but ended up gaining significantly more "real world" power, where real world power is the end result of the shot (does that make sense?). Is this a typical situation on any motor, or is there something about the LS1 that makes it particularly Nitrous-friendly?

Thanks
Steve

The LS1 loves power adders. The heads flow very well.
Nitrous will give a huge boost. My TNT 75 shot gave me 100hp/200tq boost. There is no mistaking the Nitrous power.
As for streetability,Plan on smoking the tires alot <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Thanks for the input.

I'd definitely say the LS1 loves boost <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Don't know that I'd try it if/when I get an LS1 simply because I don't know that I have the cajones to try it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

As far as tires... well, I need to find some role to play to help out the economy, and I believe keeping the tire companies in business would be perfect!

Thanks again

Mine responded very well too!

Check out the rear wheel #'s in my signature... There's an install article in the current GMHTP about it as well.

I'm actually getting excited about it... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I can't wait to get a TNT kit and try it out on the street with my TH400 setup... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> SPray through the shifts at 6600... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> on a 150 wet shot...that would give me like 535 rwhp through the 400 w/a 4000 stall, I hope I don't throw my self into a wall... <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Not really anything like a stock motor, but I made 490 rwhp NA, and 640 rwhp on the TNT 100 pills.

RWTQ was something like 750 ft/lbs, but I'd have to grab the dyno sheet.

Through a KTRE 12 bolt(3.42) and an 2800rpm stall.

Nitrous and LS1's is like peas and carrots, bacon and eggs, Jack and Coke. I have found that the nitrous (it was the first thing i put on my car) was best used with the 75hp shot when the car is still relatively stock. As you work your way up the mods ladder more and more becomes the norm. The biggest limiter on how much I used to spray was tires and clutch slippage. Now that my car is more heavly modified, the nitrous shot has grown with the car. Yet I run the same NOS system, the shot just gets bigger, so the nitrous proves to actually be economical. So lets all pray to the goddess Nitrousios Oxidixes for more POWER!(grunt)
