Plug Reading Thread I wanted to share a nitrous plug for anyone interested in learning to read plugs, this is a plug out of my buddy's car that i tuned yesterday, it is a full bolt on camaro with a vic jr and 4150 tb with a Nitrous outlet spray bar setup, this was done on 93 octane pump gas pulling from the rail with and ngk 7 plug. His base timing was roughly 28 degrees so i pulled him down to 19 to start the first pull and make sure his fueling was close i believe he has a 70n 34f in it and after the first pull the fuel looked very close, so we loaded up some more plugs and made another hit and i started sneaking a degree of timing in until 3 pulls later we were at 21 degrees total with a little heat starting to show on the plug. All pulls were done in viva la mehico
I personally think its a touch on the lean side, but given the conditions to tune in i think we did a pretty good job
On a side note i wanted to get one cut open for everyone to see bit we havnt got that far yet.

I'd like to see the honey color a little further towards the tip, but other than that I think it looks great! Maybe a 35f jet and see what it looks like then!

If it only has a short run on it then I would say it has to much timing.
Probably little lean also for a short run plug.
If it was a full 1/4 mile plug I would still say pull a couple * out and see if it likes it.
1/8th mile or shorter run it looks to hot.

it is a 2nd through 4th gear pull just shy of a full 1/4, it definitely responded well each degree i added to it, also wayne this plug has 2 full pulls on it, heat was not showing after the first pull so i added 1 more degree to it and it clearly showed heat on this one.

I appreciate your input as always man! And yes we had micro switch problems later that night so i will be monitoring his tuneup after he gets it squared away again. he freight trained that 2011 5.0 mustang though lol
