Im not 100% certain but i think they are pieces of the valve that broke, i was able to move the pieces with my finger. Also some could be a little leftover coolant.


I wondered if the valve broke because of the porclein or something. Every piston on that side has the same mark in the same spot.

Thanks, itll take me a little bit but it will be back together and hopefully alot better.

I should know a little more tonight, ill try to clean up those pieces and plan to pull the other head.

Either way, i think ill be giving Martin@TICK a call soon for a cam kit once i figure all this out.

If you have an eyebrow mark like the one in the pic on every piston, you have piston to valve contact as well...

Every piston on the passenger side has that mark atleast. Its the torquer v3 cam, i purchased the car with the motor built the way it is, this is my first time messing with a ls1.

Would it be possible that the springs are a bit weak and thats why the marks are there or when the cam was installed it wasn't check/ didn't fit.

OP - What Brett said ^^^^^^

The good thing is you are learning, the bad thing is a costly lesson. Do your research and come back out stronger and faster than before. Like Martin mentioned these motors will take some abuse if the right fuel, plug and timing is used. Without knowing these three variables at ALL times you are playing with fire.
