Default How much pressure til my bottle 'splodes?

Well looks like summer is finally here to stay in CT, and with the bottle mounted in the greenhouse hatch, how hot/much pressure can i build before it ruptures the blow off disk or 'splodes?

should i take it outta the car on the really hot days?

Nitrous bottles have a safety valve, so they generally dont explode. They just vent the nitrous to the car which sucks, but at least it doesn't turn you into applesauce.

At 3000 psi the blow off disc will rupture. Hopefully you have a vent/blow down tube routed to the outside of the vehicle. I used 1/2 inch fuel line for mine instead of the angled blue one that came with the kit so I could bend it around better.

I have it vented to the outside, and i know it won't explode i was just using the expression....

was just wondering how much it could take before it dumped $50 worth of juice....i had the gauge pegged the other day in the sun and was a little worried....

yikes, you need to pull the bottle when the car is in the sun. Mine got up to 1500 lbs one day, and I pulled it out and gave it a cool water bath. I have to admit, when I was taking it out of its mount I was holding my face away from it waiting for it to burst the seals off.
One trick is to put wet towel on it, but if its sitting in the sun it wont help for very long. That stuff can be dangerous if its does hit you. Best bet is to pull the bottle when your gonna have your beast in the sun for along time.

I wont fill mine when its this hot unless im going to the track and plan on using it fairly quick. Pretty soon Im going to start parking further out at work so my car stays in the shade during the day.

Or you could do like me, work night shift . From 7pm-7am, my bottle does nothing but cool down. I did get mine to peg at 1500 one time, but that's what I get for using a heater and not having a pillar gauge yet. That was a little scary.

Ha! I pegged my bottle so far it bent the needle. Must have been around 2000 psi because its about 4-500 psi off on the reading.

It's a good idea to pull the bottle if it's going to be sitting out in the heat. We've been baking in the North East over the last few days. In car temps with the windows up can easily shoot to over 150 degrees which can really bottle pressure pretty high.
