Do I really need a window switch???
I got a TH400 and am spraying anywhere from 75-150...
Is there any risk to not running one...I will still have the FPSS wired up along w/a full throttle switch..
Let me know..
Thanks,
Bos

Re: Do I really need a window switch???
Depends if you want to launch on the bottle.
I always suggest a window switch, but really in an automatic car you don't need one.
Most people use them on standards just in case a gear is missed. If this were to happen then the motor would over rev (I am sure you already know this) Then again most people also say that it is unsafe to spray under 3000RPMs due to preignition (i think).
Either way the choice is yours. If you aren't going to launch on the bottle get a window switch....it would be safer in the long run!

I had one in my old auto car in case i popped the tranny or rear. I doubt your trans is gonna break but what kinda rear end do you have. If its the stock 10 bolt I might worry a little bit. Also, you should watch out for spraying under 3000 as z0sence was saying, it will build up to much cylinder pressure which may bend a rod.

I've sprayed for years without a window switch and never had any problems (this was with a 6 speed car). Some people feel that it is safer which is true. You can never be to safe while running nitrous <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I don't think it matter to much if you have an A4 or M6, it is still a nice safety item. If you hit the rev limiter of the car PCM, all it does is cut the fuel injectors. That could cause the engine to crap the pistons out the bottom if it is a dry spray or keep the engine going on a wet spray. And like other have said if you break a driveshaft or rearend it will keep it from over-revving. I always think of this phase: "Safety First."
