What will fix leaking nitrous fitting?
I have a leaky aluminum nitrous fitting. Doesn't appear to be cracked and the sealing surface appears to be in good shape. Is there any type of lubricant that will help seal the fitting?

Teflon Paste at NPT fittings...if its an AN fitting you can't use anything on it...if it continues to leak you will probably have to replace it

AN flare fitting can be sealed using SECO seals. They are small washer like things made of very soft aluminum. They fit on the male end of the fitting and will seal most leaks. You can get them at most hydraulic supply plaes that sell fittings and hoses.

Re: What will fix leaking nitrous fitting?
believe it or not, what i use on any connection that i will not be disassembling very often is JB Weld Quik. Seals up perfectly air tight, is resistant to any oxidation and high pressure, and DOES come apart rather easily. dont use teflon tape or paste, waste of time, is messy, can contaminate the system easily, and rarely provides the seal you desire. The only connection (s) i dont seal up this way are those that come apart regularly, like at the bottle nut and in front of the nitrous filter. no matter what you use, though, test your work. after you button up your system and charge the line, snoop all connections with soapy water. you will find your leaks that way. you know you have a tight system when 15ft of 4AN line still has at least 600psi static after 24hrs.

I went ahead and tried RTV. I am waiting for it to cure completely before I pressureize my system. JB Weld will be next. If that doesn't work I'll find some of those aluminum washers. Thanks guys!

The RTV did not work. Tried JB Weld and it did not work. The sealing surfaces on the hose and fitting look good. I must have a split in the hose up stream of the sealing surface. Guess I will have to buy a new hose. It is leaking from the nut on the hose end. Anybody want to buy a leaking nitrous kit?

What size hose is it. Size and lenth. When you say its leaking from the nut..is it leaking from the space between the back of the female fitting and the neck where the hose goes in. Its likely leaking right at the mating surface of the flare. A SECO seal may work. I have some here. I also have some small length -4an and -3an lines. let me know which one it is...Al

Re: What will fix leaking nitrous fitting?
I know the local earl's distributor sells end fittings tha can be bolted on (like compression fittings if I remember). You just cut the hose on the end and put the new fitting on the end. Do it right instead of trying to jbweld it or whatever.. plus I don't think jbweld will work at ~900psi. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I bought a nitrous kit for $150 a long time ago and half the hoses had leaky ends, I just went down to the earl's distributor and for less than $20 I got them all fixed.
