Default How much NOS for stock LS1¿?

Got beat by 300ZX twin turbo running NOS yesterday. Thought I would do him one better next time out! How big a shot can I use on a basically stock LS1 WS6 safely. I currently have no detonation and am still running rich according to my a/f gauge.
I want to install a Dry system into air lid but am also concerned with leaks as my car sits parked over winter.

LMK guys so I can beat rice-boy next time!

There is a guy that has the new nos kit (cant remember the name) anyway its the ane with 8 injector nozzles (under the injector). He has about 20 passes with a 240 shot. Believe it or not he took the motor apart for hahas and there was no sign of anything , the pistons didnt even look like there was nos being run. Weather or not he got lucky it still was done all stock

LOL, the most you can safley spray a DRY kit is about 100-125 shot. Wet kits you can spray a 150.

its called the nossle kit. 240 is pumpin 30 per cylinder...seems fair to me. Its a direct port system...I would have thought it cam with jetting to be that low.

I ran a 175 shot with a 2 stage NX wet kit. I have a walbro 340 pump and a resistor in the IAT so the computer thinks the air temp is 140 degrees the computer then retards the timing like 3 degrees. I still burnt the tip off #6 plug(NGKtr6)stck all the pieces of spark plug in the exhaust valve seat.I was also running 100 octane. Does anyone have an idea what would cause this? any input would help a lot. Thanks Rich

100 shot would be safe untill you autotap it and see how she is doing...after it looks ok, go to 125 and see wassup...I wouldn't go higher than that on the stock fuel system...my .02 cents

I run a 180 dry shot on a stock 2000 SS.
I have gone through at least 2 bottles a week in that time. I've never even fouled a plug.
It's all in the system and the setup.
Get the Venom kit.

I ran a 150 wet shot on my 2000 A4 camaro SS, I blew the transmission though, so I dont recommend going that high. One thing I have learneda bout modifying my car, If the engine doesnt break, something else will, so take into consideration other stuff that might break because of the added horsepower, all I ever thought about was the engine, I wish I had thought about the tranny!!! I say go 125hp shot, IMHO

I am not worried about the other parts. I know the trans isn't going to last. I have a 9" rear that has already been made bullet proof. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what could have caused my #6 cylinder problem. I thought I had everything covered. I see posts and replies saying they are spraying 200 or more. They don't say they hurt a piston or a valve or burned a plug. I know the stock motor won't live long. but what is the trick to keep it from hurting it's self? Need to remove more timing? Need more octane? Need more fuel?

anyways 150 on a wet kit would be what I would go with.If you feel you have the ***** to go over then make sure to run some race gas while your at it.

On our test car we have been running about 200 HP with the stock fuel system, a MAFT and the new timing controller. This is a dry kit too. O2's are at 910 or so. We take out 8 degrees and we see no more than 2 degrees of knock ever. The car is very stock does not even have headers and has gone 11.53 and 119MPH. So I would get rid of some timing.

RICH the reason you burnt the tips off your plug is because the tr6 is a very very bad nitrous plug
and by the way i own the car that ran the 240 hp nossle system with no problems
with stock motor and timing but with some little tricks
10.84 at 131 mph

Rich....

I thought with the resistor telling the computer
it is 140*, the computer would "add" timing instead
of retard it. right??????

It thinks it's running cooler, so it adds fuel and
timing...... not sure....

goodluck.

I am planning on installing my Iridiums(step colder)
and a 75 dry shot and going from 12.4 - 11.9.
I think I will shoot for next Sunday....

I think the TR-6 is fine for a 150 shot but probably want to go colder after that! If you melted a plug, you may be to lean, what's your A/F and what did you gap them at? Also, if ya have a stock A4, I wouldn't do a 150 shot for very long, I've seen what a slipping tranny clutch will do and it aint purty. The IAT at 140 will retard the timing not advance it, kinda like the SLP piece tricking it to hold (I think) 53 or 57 deg. thus advancing it a degree or so.

Please enlighten us on what the best plug is and why you would burn a piston on anything over a 100 shot if your gapped properly and your not running lean. What are the plugs you are using, maybe I'll switch over..

tr6 plugs work but they are not the best plug to run any thing over 100 hp and if you do you are not getting the best results and stand a chance of burning a piston or two in the process
