Can someone explain to me what this panel does and where it goes for a 2000 SS?

The switch panel mounts in the opening directly in front of and to the left of your shifter (where you generally store coins, cell phone, misc. stuff).

It's a 3 panel switch - the switch on the far left controls the arming of the system (up toggle) and your bottle warmer (down toggle), the middle switch controls your purge and the far right switch is designed to control a remote opener.

I don't have an opening anywhere on my console. I have my vents with the stereo directly below followed by the A/C controls below the stereo then the Convert. top switch and cigarette lighter below that. Am i missing something?

 

Sorry - I didn't see that your's was a convertible - thought it was a coupe.

My guess is that the space that's open in my car is taken up with the switch for the convertible top in yours, but I'm not 100% sure.
