Default TR 230/224-111 LSA

how do you guys think this cam will do with nitrous? I know according to older engines its not optimal, usually a split pattern cam would be better. but we will see

I'm no expert. But with nitrous I beleive it's better to go bigger on the exhaust side. 224/227

230/224 is for N/A motors, but nitrous will still work sweet!

Thunder Racing was saying it would cause a lot of cylinder pressure if you sprayed while using this. Might want to talk to them about it.

I have a friend with this cam that was going to spray but after he talked to them he decided not to.

I have this cam and it's fine on the spray. Unless you're running a 200 shot or bigger, buy a cam that makes you the most power N/A, then spray on top of it!

NA performer, but still ok with a mild shot of nitrous! I know with its cam specs it would create a lot of cylinder pressure, maybe a shitload of TQ too, I'll make sure I have a really free flowing exhaust, probably electric dual cutouts on a 3 inch y-pipe.

Patrick, do you have any fuel upgrades for your car?

How safe is this cam w/a 150 wet shot? (stock bottom) -- what fuel upgrades are recommended?

That thunder cam with nitrous is going to create a lot of cylinder pressure.

Sure, if may work fine, but how much could you gain if you went to say a 224/230???

I'm actually making more rwhp and tq on the spray with my TR 230/224 111LSA cam than I was with my TR 224/224 112LSA cam. No big surprise. Remember, I still have 224 degrees of exhaust duration. The 111LSA keeps the intake valve from closing too late which helps on the spray. I'm running stock '98 fuel pump. That's why I'm limiting my shots to a .062 jet (125 shot). Anything bigger is approaching the limits of the fuel delivery capacity (and the stock shortblock capacity, LOL).

Honestly, a 125 shot is pretty small and does not require a specially made cam in my opinion. I'd rather be fast N/A and have the nitrous on hand for the really fast guys. BTW, with all the 422s, Vipers and Supras running around, keeping the bottle open is a necessity in Houston.

If you're going to run a 200 shot or bigger, then it's time to start rethinking cams. Under that, just pick the cam that works best N/A and spray the **** out of it (with the proper tuning of course).

That cam should work but 114 LSA is recomended for N20 use. I am waiting for the install on my TR 224/227 cam. Then we'll see how much hp my car is worth.
