Default Coil Pack Signal wire? for MSD Window Switch

I need to know which is the signal wire from my coil packs?

Im trying to hook up my MSD Window Switch 8969 and the white wire needs to go to one of the coil packs and connect to the signal wire. ( as told instructed by MSD tech support)

so which is it? apparently the one I have it connected to is wrong.

Im not getting any digital rpm reading on my Window Switch there for its not working correctly..

I tried to get a clear picture but this is the best i could do

Passenger side: that blue connector on the wire is wrong

Drivers side:

It was easier for me to run it off the pcm. White wire pin 10...just have to use cylinder setting 4..Just another option.

yeah I had it coming off pin 10 and MSD told me off the coil and cylinder setting 1

but you sure if i run it off pin 10 and set to cylinder 4 ( which says typical 4 cylinder car)

it will work and my rpm's will display on the MSD like it should? I also have the shift light coming off pin 10...will that interfere with the MSD?

thanks man for your input.

I had a lot of intermittent trouble when I had mine hooked up at the pcm. I know many do it that way but I had tons of issues. Finally hooked it up on the coil packs and it solved my problems. It's a stronger signal there I guess. I believe its the green wire on the passenger side coil packs. It was about 3-4 yrs ago though when I hooked it all up.

do you still have the car? any way you can go look?
yes MSD said it would not read correctly and work correctly when hooked to a stock PCM tach signal wire but if it was an aftermarket then it would be ok.

they told me to hook to a coil....i just cant find the correct wire.

I can't speak for shift light (since I don't have one) but the only way for my tach signal wire to activate the actual rpm settings on the MSD window switch was to have it set at cylinder 4. I had it set for cylinder 8 (or whichever one it was "supposed" to be at for a LS1) and it wouldn't work at all in that setting

cylinder 1 for LS based engines with wire on coil pack signal wire. (according to MSD)

so you must have it pulling the RPM signal off the PCM pin 10 like stated above from K_Garretson23 if yours in on cylinder 4 setting

I'm sure you are right, but since it was all hooked up when I bought the car I can't say for sure. Funny thing was is when I went to do the rest of my stuff (LNC box and bottle heater) I saw the MSD on the cylinder 4 setting, and was like "why does this idiot have it set for a 4 cylinder car lol" only to realize that was in fact where it needed to be after all lol. I only figured this out when I went to do an actual road test (with the cylinder 1 setting on) and it wouldn't work

LOL!...I hear ya.

yeah im gonna go try both green wire set on 1 and the pin 10 pcm wire set on 4
I had it on pin 10 to begin with but had it set to cylinder 1 ...I didnt know about setting it to 4

I'll keep thread posted.

I'll know it right when i start getting RPM data displayed thru the MSD

also i'll take a vid of my other issue with the LNC

Ok well after trying 2 different wires on the coil pack and not getting a signal. I went with the pcm pin 10 white wire (same as my shift light) set to cylinder 4 and it works. So i am now getting RPM data showing on my MSD box.

Yes, cylinder setting 1 will only work if your wired into an individual coil. I used the pcm pin 10 without any issues. cylinder setting 1 for the ls1 will not work, using cylinder setting 4 will monitor the correct rpms, i can get a video of mine tomorrow if you'd like. I do not have a shift light yet but i do plan on getting one using the same tach signal.

edit reread saw you got your issue figured out lol
