Andy, how many passes do you think you have that bottom end now?

Would you happen to know how many Cam had on his before it let go? Maybe he can chime in.

From stock til when it went bang, I had easily over 400 passes on that motor. 300+ shifting it at 6800-7000, and probably 150-200 of those on a lot of nitrous (.082 jet and much bigger)

I still wish I had that motor, things go south when you starting spending big money

I counted my slips the other day and I think it was 100 or so (not counting the ones I threw away). I can't count the passes on the street The past three years worth of slips have been on spray. Most all of them have been on a .82 or larger jet. I only did the 150/200 shot thing for a short while, I got bored really quick with the smaller shots

The only reason I ask Andy and Cam, is that I have a buddy of mine that has the idea that these motors can't be lasting this long without being freshened up and I'm telling him those days are gone with LS motors in place now.

He thinks Andy's motor should be worn out by now and I keep telling him if that was the case it would have let go a long time ago with as much he is spraying.

We have about 90 passes on ours on nitrous and probably 30-40 motor passes. 23,000 mile '02. Bought it with 20,000 on it so don't know what it went through before that. 10 -15 passes or so on .073 jet, 35-40 on .078 jet, 25-30 on .088 jet , and 5 or so on .093 jet. Shift points are 7000 and it has seen 7400 -7500 through the traps on the .078 jet several times. Stock rod bolts, melling high volume oil pump, stock pan. The heads have never been off the motor and it was bone stock up until last year. It is getting heads, intake , and probably more nitrous in the next few months so it should see 950 hp or so at the crank and 6800 -7000 rpm. Hopefully it stays together.

Well i can tell you I don't have anything to hide as you know because i share everything I do. I'm not the best mechanic or the best tuner, I just know the best and learn from them and take my time. I've said it before, had I not been down this journey i might not believe the results I've been blessed with or others. Heck it was hard for me to believe Cam back in the day before we became friends.

I have several old schools friends still running sbc 400s and 350s and they can't believe it because they don't understand it. The LS engine has so many options as a stock piece that they pay tons of money for in Dart Blocks and such. I have a good friend that has over 20k in his car, probably 7-8k is just engine, lighter than me and a motor converter with a sbc 400. He runs 7.0s and 11.40s. With my cam only setup at a heavier weight with a tight nitrous converter i went 7.30s on motor. I'm trying to get him to swap over and put that kind of money in an ls setup.

and it is hard to believe but when we took mine apart everything looked damn good, besides the two pistons that we got, and still the bore didnt get messed up at all. Crank was perfect, rods were perfect, as were all the bearings. We were very surprised. My motor was a living tell that with attention to detail they live for a very long time. 6 years of hard racing and I'm glad I proved what these are capable of and now many more people are pushing the envelope. I love it

Thanks for the encouragement! Got a few little bugs I'm working on right now before I start on anything new. Once i figure out this issue I will know what direction I'm going to take. Been talking with LRE about a 408 but I'm not sure just yet if my SBE journey is over.

Shirly you can find a sponsor or somebody who has room in a car trailer to tow ya up their? I bet any sponsor in the south would be willing to help you out if you throw their decals all over your car!

Hopefully Ill have it back out in the next 3/4 weeks. Im still running the .082 with the spray bars. But, Im only going to make a couple hits with them, then will probably send the intake back to Dave for the puck.
