Default Autometer gauge install guide

I have few questions on how to wire those things so they can be ignition switched. I am going with a nitrous kit and woundering where I should get the perfect ignition switched 12v for everything. I was thinking of a pink wire under the steering column but I am not sure at all anymore. Here is the diagram I have to hook my gauges up. I also know that the a/f gauge is going to give me a light show but I think it might help me to know if the car is running lean while spraying. And watch my EGT for excessive cylinder temperatures. On another note I heard that 98 only cannot tap in the pcm since it loads it up and throws an SES light is that right ? Other then that they are going on a full dual pod apillar. Any suggestions as far as installing the pillar ? How do you go around and remove your existing one?

On the back of the radio is the best spot. There is a 12v red wire that is switched to the ignition. There is also a grey wire I believe that is hooked into the dimmer. It's very easy to splice into, just have to find the two wires with a volt-meter.

I used the ignition switched port on the fuse panel.

I think I will go with that one since I don't want to overpower my radio How can I go around and do this and what is the wire color to tap onto ? Still don't know what to do for the O2 sensor issue and pillar removal for install My arms hurts right now from plug install it's a bitch lol.

If you do use the radio which should be fine here is a wiring diagram

Headunit wiring harness
Pin#............Color.................Function
1...............Grey..................Front Left Speaker -
2...............Tan...................Front Left Speaker +
3...............Dark Green............Front Right Speaker -
4...............Light Green...........Front Right Speaker +
5...............Black.................Ground
6...............Brown.................Illumination
7...............Grey..................Dimmer
8...............Pink..................Power Antenna
9...............Yellow................12V Ignition
10..............Orange................12V Constant
11..............NA....................NA
12..............NA....................NA
13..............NA....................NA
14..............Dark Blue.............Steering Wheel Controls
17..............Light Blue............Right Rear Speaker -
18..............Dark Blue.............Right Rear Speaker +
19..............Yellow................Left Rear Speaker -
20..............Brown.................Left Rear Speaker +

you need power +12 switches for the gauges.
you can get this from the radio harness, or the fuse box.

you need a dimmer wire for the lights, you can get this from the radio harness, or the fuse box "IP dimmer" fuse.

Thx Mike for the chart ! Just a question altough that worries me, will it be able to support my nitrous system if I take the +12v ignition from the radio?

You don't use that wire to power your nitrous. You use that wire to power your gauges and supply a 12v source to your nitrous switch. That switch needs to be wired into a relay that supplies 12v from your battery to your solenoids. You won't fry your radio with it if you wire the big stuff up to relays. Your gauges don't take any current to power them up, that's why you can do it.

There is a sensor extension with the wire you need already spliced in. I believe you can get it from Thunder Racing or maybe Speed Inc. Then just run a wire down through the firewall and connect them up. I used a thermocouple wire to do it. They are resistant to very high heat down by the headers.

Can I splice it up myself ? Where is this connector and what wire should I be looking at ?

You can, but I don't know what wire you have to splice. I'll look for it when I get a change. Anyone else remember what wire on the O2 connector you have to splice into.
