Default Bottle pressure

I went to make a pass yesterday and opened the trunk to turn on the bottle when I noticed that bottle was reading 1,300. This was without turning on bottle heater and I know I can't or shouldn't make a pass on the bottle at that high of a psi . So my question is how do you bring your psi down?

cool it down some how(simply wrapping with a cold towel from an ice chest,etc)...
hard,if not impossible for most standard solenoids to open against that much pressure...

purging just wastes product...

As he said most people just get a really cold rag and it will bring the pressure down fairly fast.
