Grinding Rings?

Grinding Rings? Took my block and rotating assembly to the machine shop yesterday and got a call from them today asking if I was going to run nitrous/boost, etc. I said yes and then he said that they will need to grind the rings about 10 thousandths. Not to sound dumb, but why does this matter when running power adders?
The rings see much more heat with nitrous or boost. You have to open the ring gap up to prevent the rings from butting against each other when they get hot. If you dont they will touch and bad things will happen. Most likely it will bust the ring land on the piston.
You will never notice it. I would check with the shop and see how much total gap they wanted to do. They cant know how much to open it up without knowing the amount of nitrous or boost you are planning on running.
