Mounting bottle in spare tire area.
Mounting bottle in spare tire area. I need some pointers on a quick and easy way to mount this bottle in the spare tire area. I do have the factory mounts that came with the 5177 kit. Also, is it possible to use the aluminum blow down tube that came with the kit or would I need some steel braided line to route it to the hole in the bottom of the fender well? Is the blow down tube even necesssary when mounting in the spare tire area? Thanks for the help.

Re: Mounting bottle in spare tire area. Heres what I did, using a piece of 1"x8" about yeah long, I trimmed it to pressure fit in lengthwise in the well. I did bevel cut the front and back cuts to help it squeeze down in there. Test fit it, screwed the bottle mounts down to it, and pressed it in so as to be just under fluch with the left side (the flat part towards left rear), having already removed the grommet in the well, I ran a rubber hose of the end of the blow down tube and cut the grommet to fit snugly over the tube routing it all outside, trimmed it from under the car to about an inch and a half or so. Yes, if you get teched you will need the blowdown tube routing the overpressured gas to the exterior. Not sure on the exact NHRA rules, but the tech's at our track gave the hose (BTW is clamped down tot he tube) a thumbs up. Re: Mounting bottle in spare tire area. OK, scanning picture tonight, got caught up witht the holiday and all. BTW the 15# bottle will fit in the same locale as it is only a few inches longer, although you may have to cut the wood to get it lower into the well. It may be a little hard to see the wood on my picture cause I ended up painting it blue to match the factory paint.

Re: Mounting bottle in spare tire area. Jamie, SSdriver and theGuy, i emailed the picture, but I could only find the one I sent. If you look closely where the -4 line exits the bottle, just below that you should see a small whiteish line, that is a seam sealer type of caulk I used for insurance against the wood coming unwedged tween the wheelwell and rear support.
No drew778, the rear seat does not work so well, thats why you wont be running (legally)in any $$$ events. Just mount the bottle will ya! Rex has a remote bottle opener he'll sell ya (if I dont buy it first) brand new in box, so you can mount your bottle and still fly around the roadways. C-ya fried-day.

Re: Mounting bottle in spare tire area. Thanks CAT3. Do you take the bottle out of the car to have it refilled? If so, do you take the wood out or will the bottle slide out of the clamps? Thanks again for the pic.

Refilling, yeah, I guesstimate when it is near empty, ensure valve is closed, undo the wingnuts clamping the bottle to mounts, hold bottle on its side and use a 10" adjustable to unscrew the fitting, or a 9/16" to undo the line depends on your refill guys preference. I take the bottle out periodically betweeen fills to weigh it, 14.8# empty, 24.8 full. I dont have a guage so I have logged w/100shot I get about 8 or 9 runs spraying out of the hole. With 75shot I got many many more, but I wasnt spraying out of the hole so not accurate.
Make sure when you clamp it back down, the line is tight and you have the line facing down so the siphon tube will be in the right position, if it is canted a little you wont get the full effect.
Also, use the thread sealer on all connections except the following: bottle fitting/line and the fitting at the jets. All other connections need the sealer. And make sure if you want to spray to double check that the bottle is open, I left mine closed one race, against a friend but it was for money, and tried spraying outta the hole, kinda flooded it since the wet kit was spraying the hell outta the fuel nozzle side. Good-luck.

As you'll see all I did was run down to the hardware store and bought a strip of I'm guessing galvenized steel.. Not really sure.. You can bend it. Anyhow It bolts perfectly to that Antenna Mount and runs right across the tire well opening. Just drill a hole and secure the other side. for the other strip I connected it to a stud that pertrudes into the Well. I'ts the Bumper Trim Bolt. I had to bend the strip at appropriate length since it sits a little higher than the Antenna bolt. It will all make sense when you look in there. After that just bolt your Bottle to those strips and Walla!

The Control unit in my Glovebox is tapped into the O2's to monitor A/F ratio. Each injector is also tapped by the venom control unit. After an 02 diagnostic check the system goes into a ready state and when enabled it pulses the Injectors for the extra fuel all the while maintaing proper/safe A/F Ratio. If the System should detect a lean situation it stops the flow of N20 immediately! It's a pretty cool little setup. I just gotta get a bottle warmer though!.
