5.3 Nitrous Cam Question on Trex or MS3 cam
Picking up a junkyard 5.3 next Friday to put in my Fox. I'm not wanting to sink a lot into the motor as it'll be coming out mid/late summer for the final build. What I'm curious about is putting either a T-Rex or MS3 cam in it. I'm going to throw atleast a 175-200 progressive on it as well. So which cam will work better w/ this shot. Head wise I'm going to try to find a L33 w/ 799's but if not I'll just throw a 241/853 set on it w/ some LS9 head gaskets. Fox is roughly 3k lbs w/o my fat *** in it. Also curious if there is a better "off the shelf" grind... or just go custom? I have .650 valve springs to go on the heads... Thanks fellas!

I have a custom grind from Brian Tooley that's pretty much the same as his Stage 4 cam for my L33 RX7 swap project I'm doing this winter. I told him I wanted "max effort" to spin 7K+ rpm and take the same amount of spray (maybe a little more).....

I had a Tick Polluter V2 in my engine before the tuning shop blew it up. Car sounded fantastic, and the advertised power gains were great. I hadn't had a chance to set up my nitrous at that point but Martin at Tick told me that cam loves nitrous.

Both of those cams are really large for a stock 5.3 with stock heads. You would be a lot better off talking to some cam guys and maybe even have them spec you one out.
Martin at tick is a very knowledgeable cam guy and has had plenty of experience with nitrous.
