Default Do I need a timing tuner?

So I have a 2000 z28 with yank ss3600, headers, tsp duals, 3.42 gears. I plan on spraying a 100 wet shot of nitrous. I've searched and searched and found mixed answers. I've got a frost tune right now. Do I need to pull timing while spraying or is it safe since it's only a 100 shot?

On factory timing, you can spray 100 shot on 1 step cooler plugs and 93 octane, however the car will perform better alot better tuned, and be safer. I can speak from personal experience on that. Ran my car on 100 shot for awhile stock tune, it was fine, and after tuning it, the car performed alot better, and I had piece of mind.

Frosts tune has too much timing for nitrous. Send it to him and tell him what you are doing and he will pull timing for the nitrous. You will have to pay a small update fee. I dealt with Frost alot my son and brother have his tune in stock cars with converters and make over 300 rwhp. He is great for mail order. FYI i just dynoed my car last friday and pulled timing for nitrous. My timing was set at 26*. We put in 22* at wot and it picked up 15 rwhp and 20 tq. Plus its safe for nitrous.

See that's what I have been debating about too. I like how the car runs right now with the frost tune so would probably order the lnc 2000 to pull timing only when I spray. I don't plan on spraying very often since I drive the car to and from work occasionally. I'm just trying to see if it wasn't necessary I could save the $275 for the controller.

Default LNC 2000 Timing Computer

Yes you need a timing Computer. Lingenfelter makes a timing Computer called the LNC 2000.

They say this is one of the Best Timing Computers for LS Motors.

It is a true " Plug & Play " Unit. It comes with its own Harness that plugs Directly into the stock LS Motor wiring Harness.

The Rule of thumb is to Pull 2 Degrees of timing for every 50 H.P. increase.
That means you should be pulling at least 4 degrees of tiimng when you spray your engine with 100 shot of N20. I am pulling 5 Degrees with a 100 Shot of Nitrous.

You should also Run NGK BR7EF Spark plugs which are 2 heat ranges colder than stock.

this^^, he nailed it. exactly the setup i have. sprayed 100 several times, and 150 a couple times, no knock or detonation, and its easy to hook up. changing plugs was as fun as screwing an angry porcupine, but neccassary.

I am also running the Lingenfelter window switch to turn my Nitrous "ON" at 2800 rpm & "Off" at 6000 rpm. Your Factory GM computer has a Fuel Cutoff as an rpm Rev limiter that cuts fuel OFF at around 6200 rpm... which can cause a lean condition if you are on the bottle. The window switch will stop the flow of nitrous to protect your engine from a lean condition.

I also run a 50% mix of Unleaded premium gas & 100 Octane Unleaded Sunoco Race Gas when i go to the track for some Drag Racing. Unleaded is a must so you dont damage your Oxygen Sensors. I will be adding an Air / Fuel Ratio Gage in my exhaust system soon.

If you had a dedicated fuel system just for the nitrous kit could you run all motor timing if the stand alone fuel system for the nitrous had race gas in it???
