You have to remember 2 degrees is a rule of thumb. In an extreme case, a 1000 shot would require you to pull 40 degrees of timing. The piston would already be heading down the hole before you lit it off. Read the plugs and see what it likes.

Wayne, thats not crazy at all. I had a brother's, friend's, uncle who had a sister that had a boyfriend, whose neighbor sprayed that much and get this........it was all on TR6 plug! Even Monte Smith and SJ said it would be ok.

How much timing are you guys suggesting to pull? I'm planing a 300-400 shot on a money maker myself on a forged stock cube LS1. I plan to creep up on it (starting on a 100 shot). My current MAX timing at WOT is 27*. I do have a standalone fuel system I plan to run C16 in for the spray also, is 2* per 50 shot not safe?

Just throw some stock plugs in it and don't pull any timing.. let it eat

I was just giving an extreme example to prove a point; the thumb rule doesn't always apply. I agree with everything you guys have said.

And just to prove a point what if you had a lazy *** BBC that needed 40* of timing on the motor? Then your example holds no water.

That is theoretical anyway. A motor has an efficiency point and will not get to the point of firing the spark ATDC.

Did you read what I wrote? I said read the plugs to see what it likes and the rule of thumb can does not always apply. I am pretty sure we are aligned here.

Money maker Im going to just start with a 200 with 8deg out and check plugs thanks guys

that's a good start with race gas, and at least ngk 7's. but I personally would not be going over 250 shot without direct port. the distribution might not be even, learn how to check plugs, and check them all to make sure

A money maker intake is kinda like a direct port but its not, get my drift? It's not anything like a plate, that's for sure

I seriously suggest starting out with half of that, and working your way up. Spraying 200, I would back the timing down to 16* and work from there, reading the plugs. Find what that likes, add some nitrous, and pull more timing. Use a -9 plug as well.

My last trip out I ran an 81n jet tune with 8 degrees pulled and a BR7 plug. I brought B8s with me, but there was no signs of excessive heat with the 73n jet tune, so I let it ride. The plugs looked great with the timing mark just above the anode. No signs of excessive heat. This is with 10.8:1 compression and LS6 style combustion chambers. I have 3 gallons of 110 mixed in, but I intend to run that tune with pump gas next trip out.

If you are comparing timing curves and tuning strategies with others, I think the best information will be from combinations with the same style combustion chambers and similar compression ratios.

A lot of people posting are correct..... With what We Todd DId says is how I would approach it... basic rule for me when I ran a lot of nitrous was to start slow and repeat each tune a few times... a lot of items can affect the tune for nitrous and all should be monitored before stepping up.... If you don't have a data logging system have a video of the fuel pressures and nitrous pressure made so you can view them...these things make a huge difference in how much timing to use and over all tune/efficiency of the jet used

1. Bottle Pressure
2. System style... dry, fogger, plate etc.
3. Fuel type
4. Bottle size
5. Fuel pressure

Just to name a few... all be it not on a LS engine I had a 600 hp plate system designed by Nitrous Express in the early 2000's for NMRA drag radial because of the restrictions but sprayed waaay more then most would through a plate because we had to but it lived with baby steps and perfecting each tune before making the jump.... Also as others have said I've seen 200 horse jets produce more power than say a 350 jet on the same engine because of the supporting mods... just be aware going big will get you a big hole in the piston...
