Auto cars with 3.73s running nitrous
I have a 98 Z28 A4 with 3.73s. My current mods are...
Slp lid, Slp 2OTL, cut-out, 3.73s and hooker shorty headers. I went to the track today and ran the best time of 13.4 at 105. Now I noticed that when I was crossing the line I was a 5,000 rpms in 3rd. I've been thinking of running a dry 100 shot, it seems to me that I may run into a problem with the car wanting to shift in 4th (if thats even possible at WOT) before the finish line. Am I correct in assuming this? Should I scrap and nitrous plans since I went with 3.73s? I had no plan of running nitrous when I got the gears, but now I want some. Any advice?

I was running a 125 dry shot, got 3.73's, and have a 3600 stall. No problems. Don't put the shifter in "D". Put it in 3'rd and let the car do the shifting. You'll be fine. I was running mid 11's, but am now stepping up to a wet kit, along with cam and longtubes. Hoping for 11.0 or 10.99 this season.
Thanks for the replies, I guess I'll mess with the shift points alittle (currently stock) and see what happens.

You should be fine with those gears. If nothing else put a manual lock up switch on for your converter and lock it up when you run out of rpm's. Good luck!

I'm running a 3.73 and I have ran a 75 shot once at the track....... but umm well my transmission wouldn't hold the power so I'm awaiting a FLP trans and trying to decide witch converter.
