Default Please help me pick a N2O system

Hey guys,

I'm looking to add some N2O to my stroked LT1 that I've built over the past year. Its a full forged set-up, converted to 4 bolt mains etc and should make 445rwhp NA once I've fixed a could issues. Everything else is built too - Moser 9", Street twin clutch, suspension, aftermarket DS etc...

I would like to add up to a 75-150hp shot to hopefully get my m6 LT1 pig into the 10's. Could you guys recommend a N20 kit and supporting accessories to help me do this based on this criteria?:

- I'm not overly mechanical, so something low maintenance would be prefered. (I can do mid-level type work but I'm not about to tear down an engine)
- I don't really want to have seperate tunes for N2O vs NA - This may limit the size of shot or perhaps there is something that I can retard timing with that will work with my LT1 w/24x LS1 ECU? (tuned with HP Tuners)
- I'd like a fairly basic system because I'd like to try and wire it myself. I might add a purge or bottle heater but thats about it

How would the Zex system work compared to Nitrous Outlet or Nitrous Express? Is a throttle body plate system or dual nozel system worth the money at a 150hp shot level? And lastly, what would the max safe HP shot be knowing my criteria and build?

Thanks,

Andy

I would run to n2o outlet plate kit. They look great and hit hard. There good up to a 200 shot if your still on factory intake. You can buy A mallory 685 or msd digital 6 box to pull timing. Both boxes have built in timing retard, window switch, rpm limiter, and 2 step. If its a fully forged motor I see no reason you couldnt spray it with 200 shot. Just want to keep a eye on your plugs. Your gona wana run colder nonprojected tip plug. I would for sure run a purge and warmer.

Just seen that your running 24x system. I dont think those ignition boxes will work with them. Also whats your fuel pump setup?

Thanks for the info. Yes, it's a 24x system- do they not make one for LS1s?

I have a racetronix single 255 set-up

With only a 255 pump and already making 440rwhp. On 150 shot you will be close to maxing out the pump. May want to look into a dedicated fuel setup. Lingenfelter make a timing controller that will work.

Well good thing about dedicated fuel system. Is that you can run c16 in the fuel cell and 93 in the tank. Alot safer to run race gas while sprayin.

Would you be able to get away with not pulling any timing if you ran 93 in the tank, c23 in a dedicated fuel cell with a 150 shot/plate, running br8's in your opinion?

I would still pull timing. Its better to be safe than sorry. To me its no worth blowing the motor.

How much compression are you running and do you have a camshaft designed for nitrous? I would not pull the trigger on a 150hp shot without pulling timing. Especially in a stroker motor. Example: My motor likes 28 degress of timing on motor only. With 100 octane in the fuel tank and 116 in the nitrous cell, the most timing I can get away with on a 150hp shot is 22 degrees. Then the mph drops off significantly and I can see detonation marks on the NGK 9 plugs.

Stock ls1, so 10:1 cr, stock cam/ heads. Just exhaust and converter but am in the process of setting up for spray for this coming season.
I would start with 100 shot and go from there but was wondering if I was out my head going that route and not pulling any timing
