Just consider your end result and the trouble you wanna go through to get there. Also consider which is better for the use you plan.

If it's race only, this is pretty much settled.

If your nitrous cam is right the loss on motor is minimal. I can give you an example of 2 identical 5.3 car builds we did. both 5.3's victor jr, 750 carb, through th400 and 8.8 rear. 1st car we used a custom grind nitrous cam. second car customer supplied n/a cam from popular vendor on this site.

N/A nitrous cam made 303 whp on our dyno and the N/A cam made 306. On the same size jets the nitrous cam made 50 whp more on 200 jets and up and once you sprayed over 250 the n/a cam made no more power than the smaller jet.

Mostly race yes, lol.. but my motor is going into an rx7 so I think ill have clearance issues with the other manifolds.. I'm running afr heads with 235/242 cams

I thought he was saying the same thing.

Surely you can make it work regardless, but I think I'd be more concerned w/ traction in that car!

That's a torque cam... Brian Tooley? The car should really launch. Still, like we've seen above, you'll sacrifice nitrous power w/ a cam like that one if you plan on more than a 150 shot. You'll probably be fine @ 200. Full disclosure, I haven't built any engine in a long time. That said, you may consider something w/ more duration(many think I'm crazy for that approach). 242/252 was probably my favorite, but it definitely idles lumpy around 11-1200 and may lack vacuum. Several here will probably have a better idea on this and much more recent experience.

Maybe he was. I was just trying to give the OP an example.

Oh trust me man traction is a huge concern for me lol, but it's a little too late to order a new cam.. that's already been done

anyways, so you guys think the super vic would be a better option? I haven't ordered my manifold and I'm sure I can always figure out clearance issues like you stated.
