Default LS376/525 + 150 Shot

Hi,

I'm in the middle of putting together an LS swap into my '70 Nova. I plan on going with an LS3 but not sure if I am buying a crate engine or a custom forged motor.

My goal is to run 10's in full street trip. Will the LS376/525 crate engine and a 150 shot get me there? I think so but thought I would ask. My car will be running a built 4l60e, 3200 stall, 3.70 gears through a Currie 9inch rear and I'll run slicks at the track.

Thanks,
Daniel

I had one guy on a Nova forum say that he had this crate engine in a Camaro and it went 11.3 on his first trip to the track in full trim.

The guy in this video also has a Camaro that went 11.7 as well.

I think a 150 shot, stall and slicks will get me there.

It should get you close to what you are wanting but you will need to adjust suspension, tune, etc... to get you there ultimately.

Thanks Chris. I will have it tuned on the dyno to get it dialed in. I also plan on installing some Cal Tracs in the rear with some QA1 adjustable shocks, new upper/lower control arms and shocks in the front and stiffening up the sub frame.

Sounds like you are on the right track! With all that I think your goal is very obtainable.

I think I'm leaning away from the forged motor. For my power level and goal, I don't think it is necessary. I am however, debating on the standard LS3 (430hp version) and swapping in a BTR stage 3 cam, CNC heads and thinner gaskets to bump up compression. For close to the same price of the 376/525, I'll have about 60-70 more RWHP. Add 150 shot on that and I think I'll see mid 10s.

Definitely go with the cam and heads because that will help you get what your wanting to run. Even with H/C you can still spray 150hp on that setup easily.
