Default Nitrous or not

Does anybody have any input on how much nitrous a iron block 6.0 that’s been bored to a 6.2 can take? I’ve got many mixed opinions weather or not you can even spray them but would like to hear from someone with experience.

Well the block can take more than the rotating assembly you're probably putting in there to be honest. If you're worried, have the block sonic tested and see how much room the cylinder walls have before opening into something (coolant passage, another cylinder etc).

Yeah the block can take a lot. It's the rods and pistons that will give way first

Bone stock 2002 lq4 here ... makes 425rwhp on motor...hit it with 150-200 of spray at least 20 times now. Going strong and probably upping to 250 shot this year.

^^Also SBE LQ4 on a 150 (now 175) Zero issues. Watch the tune/timing and you'll be fine.

How much are you wanting to spray? These motors can take a pretty healthy shot even when they have been bored

Any LS platform V8 can easily take a 150 shot with pump gas and can live a long healthy life if the tune and plugs are correct.

If you've never used nitrous, you should start small with a 75 shot. Get it set up properly, learn how to tune it, learn how to diagnose problems, and learn how to read plugs before you go ape $hit with bigger shots.

Start with NGK BR7EF plugs gapped to .030. Get a single nozzle universal kit with jets for multiple power levels. If you don't have or want to buy HP Tuners or EFI Live, you need to get a Lingenfelter LNC-2000 to pull timing.

He's my hero... I'm going to try 250 this season... down to 9's now on plugs...timing mark seems perfect but I'm still a bit rich on the 200... maybe 10's on heat range leave fuel jetting alone and up the n2o jet another 50.. we'll see.

on a 300 shot I ran BR8's but my standalone had race fuel and worked well. The 9"s was just to cold of a plug for me to drive around. I switched to E85 for all motor and nitrous and so far seems to work well. Just a lot harder to read plugs with e85.

I've heard that, I'd like to do e85 but I'm not that knowledgable in the tuning aspect of running on alcohol and I don't like what I've read about how inconsistent pump e85 can be...now that you mention, on the 200 with the 9's I'm still on reg 93 pump gas from the tank, this season planned on doing dedicated fuel system with 110+ in it for the spray... may be able to enrich the mixture with race fuel and leave plugs alone.. have to do some testing on it.. didn't even think of it until you mention that. Thanks.

Standalone was the best investment for a safer tune and more nitrous. Race gas in my standalone and I had br7's with no problems with 200 shot. When I went to 250 and above I went to 8's and stayed with the 8's when I switched to e85. Lot of the northern states seem to get more inconsistent e85 as they have the winter blend. Here in Florida it's been pretty dead on of a mix.

What jets are you running with E85? Any ET MPH differences at the track compared to race gas?

Didn't notice any difference from race gas and e85, nitrous Jets the same, fuel jets where bigger as you need about 25'to 30% more. Plugs looked better as sometimes we nipped the plugs on over 300 with race gas in the standalone and 93 in the tank.

What fuel were you running in the stand alone? I run C23 in mine with no issues on 32N jets. Plugs are B9EFS gapped at .026. 12 degrees timing (pulled 15 degrees from 27).

I used X19 for my setup, wasn't really fuel related, but distribution problems on my Fast intake.

Did you mean X16? Are you running a plate set up?
