Default Nitrous wiring issue

Before I get started would just like to say this is a brand new kit, ls1 78mm plate kit, winmax and lnc2000. Have the 93-02 ashtray mount switch and have everything wired according to the diagram. Problem is everytime the system is activated it will blow the inline 40a fuse. When the arm switch is activated, the light comes on, the purge system will work, I can hear the solenoids click. But when the solenoids are activated for more than 2-3 seconds it will blow the fuse. Checked alol wiring. Even pulled everything out and rewired everything. Have tried 10g wire for power and ground. The solenoids are grounded to the battery ground behind the battery. The relays are grounded to a ground bolt under the dash on pass side behind kick panel. Have tried searching and have not been able to come up with why it keeps blowing the fuse when everything seems to work perfectly fine until the solenoids are activated for more than a few seconds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What gauge wiring are you using to the solenoids?
Are you powering the heater or any other items thru the 40A fuse?

14g wire to relays. 10g to ground and battery. Only thing going through the fuse is the nitrous/fuel and purge solenoids.

Is the 2nd stage deactivated?
Is the orange and yellow wire capped off?

I have the Winmax controller and no issues. The issue of tripping fuses is sometimes caused by using too light of wiring gauge, which does not appear to be your issue. I would suggest calling Nitrous Outlet.

Are you saying that they're all running through the same fuse? Do you have a diagram as to how you have wired this?

I have it wired exactly like the diagram for your 93-02 ashtray mount switch panel. Not using the heater or opener. I have the winmax disconnected at the moment until its sorted. The 30 on the purge relay and the 30 on the solenoids relay both connect into a single 10g wire and run straight to the battery with an inline 40a fuse that is right next to the battery.

https://nitrousoutlet.com/files/inst...itch_panel.pdf

My next step is to run the purge relay to battery with an inline and run the solenoids relay to battery with an inline on separate 10g wires.

So I think I have it sorted out through process of elimination. Removed purge solenoid and relay from the circuit. Hooked up system, armed switch and activated solenoids. 40a fuse blows. Removed lnc-2000 from system, repeated. 40a fuse still blows. Winmax is already out of system. I know all the wire is good, its new, I rewired everything. No shorts. Grounds are good. So next step, which is really all that is left is the actual solenoids. Removed the nitrous solenoid from the circuit. Armed the switch and activated the system. Fuse does not blow. Fuel solenoid ok. The system is actually working! Now I disconnect the fuel solenoid and reconnect the nitrous solenoid. Arm the switch, activate the system, 40a fuse blows. So im guessing there is some type of internal short in the nitrous solenoid? Everything works in the entire system with the 40a fuse inline to the battery with the nitrous solenoid disconnected. When the nitrous solenoid is wired back in it blows the fuse. The nitrous and fuel solenoids are wired to a single 10g wire that runs to the relay. They are both grounded to the battery ground. Then the relay runs to the battery on a 10g wire with an inline fuse.

Default Quick question!

Hey, I am basically using the same set up as you. I just wanted to see if you fixed your issue… did you end up getting a replacement nitrous solenoid or what came of this?

I have a quick question for you, did you use 2 relays? I am running N2O, fuel and purge solenoids, and a bottle heater.. will I need to use 2 relays? If I go without the bottle heater, can I use 1 relay for all 3 solenoids?

Why not just use one per circuit? I'd buy a mini panel with 3 or 4 relay slots and fuse for each. Will look clean and not fail.
If you share the circuits the solenoids will be fighting for power and run hotter..

I agree 100%

You can build your own it's a simple and fun project and quite inexpensive too.

Mine has has the N2o & fuel on one relay, heater on one, purge on one, plus a spare if needed.
The fuse block makes the wiring easy and and less messy.

That looks good. Where do you plan to mount it?

This was a relay panel is for my 2000 GMC Sierra. The 99-06 Silverado and Sierra's have a 2nd battery option for the Duramax diesel trucks. I bought the optional battery tray to mount the relay panel.

They also sell a fuse block like in the picture but with the sockets for the relays built in, so more pre-connections done..
Plus I prefer teh socket be the mount rather than the relays with the tab.. Personnel style..
