Default Max Nitrous with boost

Hello,

I'm new to this tech board. I read an online article how nitrous can help boost. What is the max nitrous anyone should run with 25-30 psi of boost? What compression ratio to run? e98 race gas. I'm working on a fully built motor.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

=Thank you!

Both generate power, when you stack them things get interesting.. The line between zoom an doom would be very narrow.. and EXPENSIVE.

Step 1, MUCH experimenting and knowledge required ..
Step 2, redo step 1 and try again.. <lol>

Thanks pdxmotorhead,

I'll start with a 50 shot and work upward not to exceed 125hp

I'm not a turbo guy but you might want to go to the drag race section and talk to Kenny with the calypso mustang. He has a big turbo and that car is fast as ****. His 60' is incredible too. No need for nitrous.

One thing to keep in mind is that being boosted you almost double the power made on nitrous. That 50hp shot will probably get you 75-100hp to the wheels. 75hp would probably be around 150hp to the wheels. Also every application reacts differently but those hp levels should be a good estimation on power made.

hi

I'm not a turbo person, but you should chat to Kenny with the calypso mustang in the drag race area. He's got a massive turbo, and that car is insanely quick. His 60' is also great. There's no need for nitrous oxide. turkish citizenship

Most people who run both only use the nitrous to get an oversized turbo spooling. Once you get the turbo spooled up, there is no need for nitrous. With the nitrous you can use a turbo that would otherwise be way too laggy off the line. Using a somewhat larger than normal turbo can also greatly help top end efficiency by way of a much more favorable backpressure ratio. This does, of course generally require the use of a window switch to deactivate the nitrous at a predetermined boost or rpm level. This is a VERY oversimplified explanation, but you get the point.

I am not a nitrous guy, but a turbo guy. I don't see much need for nitrous if you have a property setup boosted car. With that said, I'll say this, make sure you understand nitrous, and what it does and why. Don't quote me on this because as I said, not a nitrous guy, but I believe for every 100 shot N/A, your adding a full point of compression. Compression is one thing most guys don't talk about, well not in the aspect of it being directly added.

Nitrous guys are way ahead of us turbo people in making use of power adding with high compression. They are fairly accustomed to the tiny tuning windows that we hate so much. Then there are the idiots, but we have those too.

There's only one way to determine the max amount for your combo. Keep adding boost until something goes boom. Rebuild and dial it back from there.

So because nitrous can stack with a turbo... 50 shot becoming the equivalent to 150 shot, its not exactly good idea or worth it when the turbo is making its max power and letting out any extra air. What that article was most likely mentioning how nitrous can assist with turbos, or boost, is that (especially with bigger turbos) it will help with turbo lag. Using nos as to spool up the turbo faster, and not having to wait for the turbo to spin up
