The nitrogen has higher pressures then the n2o. When the n2o starts to get empty and lose pressure, the nitrogen will force itself into the bottle to raise pressure again. You would have to heat the crap out of the bottle if it was n20, even then, when it gets real low you still cant get the pressure up enough.

but if nitrogen is pushing itself into where n20 normally is won't you end up short on the oxygen when it is injected? Or does this even matter?

it wont mix with the N2O. it just stays at the top of the tank and "pushes" the N2O out the tube.

Mike...for all intents and purposes...you have to think of the nitrous in terms of a liquid. So the nitrogen just keeps a head pressure on top of the liquid. As long as bottle orientation is good...the dip tube is always submerged below the liquid nitrous. Liquid nitrous is what flows through the lines. The nitrogen remains a gas at all times and takes up the space above the liquid (nitrous) and maintains pressure.

hey i got a question for yall. lets say on a 10 pound bottle, once it gets down to around 2 pounds, the pressure will still be around 1100 or what ever you set it at correct? well what happens when you fill it back up with the nitrogen still in it. wont it be pretty hard to fill since the pressure is still way up there. or do you just open the valve and let it bleed back down?

Default Bottle Identification

One other thing to keep in mind, is legally, you can not put any compressed gas into a bottle that is not labeled correcty. (nitrogen in a bottle labeled as nitrous oxide)
I'm not saying that I care, but I thought I would just throw it out there.

Tag...you have to let all pressure out of the nitrous bottle including whatever nitrogen is left before you go fill it back up.

Damn this really does sound like a kick *** system. Thanks for clearing up for the nitrogen/nitrous thing for me. Makes sense now.

Good luck with it dave, if you need any pictures on mine, or just need a answer to different ways of doing it, just post, youll get some good feedback.

That post is excellent conversation from me and a 383lq4...you should get what you need from it.

I would use a regulator, I think he uses a solenoid.

Heres some good reading:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...=nitrogen+push

Also a nitrogen push is fine to use in normal trips to the track, it isnt legal for competition use in NHRA competition.

But we all use it on normal test n tune all the time

You could have 2 versions, solenoid version would be a lot cheaper unless you can find a good deal on a regulator that works good.

Where did you get your regulator C4Vette, and how much was it? My buddy found one but it was over $300.

So, how do you know when you are low on nitrous?? What happened if you run out of nitrous mid run? Would you then be spraying the nitrogen??

I keep looking for this answer everywhere....maybe stupid, but I always wondered how you know when you need more nitrous?

You know you are low on nitrous by knowing your setup and becoming familiar with it. I have sprayed so much nitrous through my 15 lb bottle at various shot sizes I usually know when I am down to 2-3 lbs.

If you run down the nitrous and begin spraying pure nitrogen you will be down on power and run like crap. Funny though...I have yet to actually do this in almost two years.

cool man, you should go to the thunder shoot out so we all can see that monster. you can also show NitroDave that nitrogen push system in person so he can get some kind of kit to sell us soon. that is if he goes also.

so if a nitrogen push is used, it eliminates the need for a bottle warmer and/or bottle blanket i take it?

Instead of using nitrogen, cant you use compressed air such as a scuba tank?? Wouldnt it be cheaper and have the same effect?
