Default Why does 5 and 7 cylinder always go lean

This is the 3rd time I've melted #5 & #7 (TR-6's gapped @ .035)

I ran a 175 shot N72 F41, 2 gallon of trick 114 to 1/4 tank of 92, left the timing a 28* no knock.

Then at the end of the 1/4 the car breaks up dies coolent shooting out around #5 & #7 cylinder.

I run a 200 shot with about 25 degrees of timing on pump gas with an additive, no problem with pistons or plugs...didn't notice these cylinders going lean on the dyno....

I have a similar problem with #3 melting and #5 just starting to. At first I though it was a hot cylinder from the fuel distribution but it seems to be a persistant problem and both nozzles are flowing just fine. Latley I have been running the car alittle on the richer side (about 11-11.2) and knocked the timing back to about 24* and it has been ok. Before I was running the A/F ratio at about 11.8 with about 26*. The car actually runs faster with the more fuel less timing combo.

IMO it would be good to pull 2-3 degrees of timing. Also might help to gap the plugs down to .030 or go another range colder.
Maybe you are getting knock... and finding out about it the hard way.

If you don't have a direct port, it could be poor distribution. Might want to take your intake tube off of your throttle body and watch how it sprays. Make sure it's spraying straight and not hitting any walls or anything.

Sounds like it was a deffinate distribution promblem. Where you tryng to spray a 175 shot out of a single nozzle?

I've sprayed a 200 shot out of a single shark nozzle with no problem at all, but I am pulling timing & I do run either 104 + 93 or NX Chemical X + 93. The chemical X really works, prevents detonation, lubricates & helps to clean your fuel system.

With the number of cylinders you have messed up it doesn't sound like a distribution problem. Either Detonation, or maybe your nitrous noid stuck open a little longer than the fuel noid causing a very lean condition.

1, 3, 5, 7 sounds like a distribution problem to me, sounds like the nozzle isn't spraying straight down the pipe to me. IMO.

sounds like a POS to me, or a dumbass operator error!

Sorry Andrew, Couldnt resist that one.

See where the nozzle is shooting the juice in at, if its all on the walls mayeb thats it. But I think its something more than just that. Mine began melting using the DP so I doubt its all distribution.

Drew, definitely pull some timing out of that thing. One problem the rear cylinders have, on a throttle body wet kit, is fuel starvation in the rear of the intake. Your engine is moving lots of air at that point, and much of what gets sprayed into the intake gets sucked into the closest cylinders with regard to the entru point. This is why most will go to a direct port type system when spraying over 150.

Pulled the drivers side head and between 5 and 7 theirs chunks missing from the head and block

Also, #3 piston hit a valve and left a mark

Looks like it's time for a new bottom end
