Diodes on relays? i have 2 relays one 40A main relay and a 30A bottle heater relay, a few more questions i see in the instructions that you have stuff going to 12 volt sources and stuff going to switched 12 volt sources i took it like this constant 12 volts to relays and switched 12 volts to switches, now what do i run to the purge switch, switched or constant? sorry for all the questions just dont wanna screw anything up

I run my purge of of switched 12 volt so no one hits the buttons! But I don't think you need diodes! What is going to back feed?

A device that responds to a small current or voltage change by activating switches or other devices in an electric circuit.

Dictionary.com defination of a relay.

Basically you're taking really high current (from your battery) and putting it to the solenoids. To activate this you supply small low current to the relay. This closes the switch, allowing your solenoids to get their power from the battery. The relay is really just seperating the high current from the low current by adding a switch which is "flipped" by supplying power to it.

Nothing has constant power supplied to it unless it is switched into the "on" position.

Hope this answers your question.

The diodes are used for "flyback" or "kickback" protection. It basicly keeps the relay opening and closing its main contacts a couple of times after you turn it on. It does it so fast one could never see it with there own eye. Not a real big issue, but I believe it drops the life expectancy of the relay.

I would put the purge on switched like the rest. Just like said above, you dont want anyone in there pushing the purge button while u got your keys in your pocket not in eyesight of your car.

alright, now on the relays themselves do i hook them up to the battery or a switched 12 volt cuz in the instructions it makes it sound like some go switched some go constant(like to the battery)

You can use switched or 12 volt! Doesn't matter. But depending on where you are mounting the relays I would do a large 12volt much easyer to find!
