Default What gears with the juice

I'm just wondering what you guys think of gears for the bottle i currently have 4.10 and i run out way to soon.I have a D/P system and it set at a 150 shot i plan on goiing bigger like a 300 shot. But i need a gear change i'm thinking 355 would be nice.I need some opinions from the big nitrous users.I do run 28 tall tires. Specs of car are in sig. My goal is 9.40 in the 140mph range.

I have 3.73's and wish I had 4.10's. Can't wait to grenade my rear end!

i had 4.10's on a 150 shot with a 27 inch tire and i was on the shift light at the traps running 132.

went 3.89's in my 9inch with 28's and i think it woulda been good for 140ish.

I run 4.30's with 30x9. Best times are in signature.

Well after doing research a 3.73 is the only gear i can use. I was hopeing a 3.55 but with a spool it is not possible.I'm going with the 3.73 and hope it is enough. The 4.10 just are to much gear on the bottle im going threw the traps at 6800 rpms.

The thing I hate about my 3.73's is I have to shift to 3rd right before the finish. Wish my shift happened a lot sooner or not at all, but my shifts happen around 6000. Definitely screwing my times.

That is the key - tire and gear need to be in sync. Too tall of tires and not enough gear will get the same results and to little tire and to much gear. You'll have to find out yourself. My 4.30, 30x9, 4200 stall on the TH-400, shifting at 6700, works perfect. Shift light comes on at the traps.

If you're using a 4L60E, you will obviously want to stay out of 4th gear o/d during the race. Whether you need a 3.73 or 4.11 is a function of the size of the tires and the rpm you trap at. I run a T400 and a rear tire size that allows me to hit the rev limiter in the lights. Like most racers, you will have to test and find the right combination of hp, gearing and tires.

I heard a rule of thumb is for every gear change is 400 rpm appx. Now i don't think that would include me counting a 390 gear for my car i'm counting 410 to 373 would be 400 less rpm in the big end. This would allow me to put a bigger nos tune in my car hoping another 150 shot but if i put in a 373 i'm afraid it will not be enough. And a taller tire is out of the question the 28 in my car are tight. I'll just end up putting in the gear and have to wait till next season.
