Default Best nitrous solenoid for current draw?

I got a bare used tank, line, solenoid and jet. I've been
fooling with it and the 'noid sure does draw a lot of
current. I've seen that "bottle opener" solenoid that
is supposed to run a really low holding current but the
old Compucar one on this "kit" is over 3A when "lit"
(it hits the current limiter on the 3A power supply I was
using to test it, though it did fire; it would not fire on
500mA under pressure).

Two questions...

One, is there any brand of 'noid that is known to be
lower current than the rest, good for a 100 shot at
least? I didn't find any useful info on this in searching.

Two, would the "opener" type be suitable for use as a
solenoid, are there any drawbacks (aside from the
somewhat higher price) to doing this? Like have an
"opener" out back for line / leakdown protection and
another up front by the jet for actual spray control?

I can answer some of your questions.

I have tested the dynotune opener, I tested it onder pressure and it only draws .5A and it will definetly support over a 100shot.

I'm not sure about using one as your nit sol. Dan or Dean from Dynotune could advise/ or not advise that.

you can not use the new style solenoid bottle opener as a normal solenoid. they have a dual piston the first piston opens and is very small under .025 that pressurizes the feed line between the bottle and your normal nitrous solenoid when the line pressure equalizes it drives the second piston open that is huge .250 that is how they operate and use such low watts to stay open for long long periods of time. We sell hundreds of these bottle openers and wholesale to many others. Cold fusion and Elderbrock are the only current OEM suppliers for this solenoid. If you are buying one from someone else it has either been through our warehouse or edelbrocks. Same quality, same product just a different sticker...
