Default Anyone spraying through shifts on an auto?

I am having issues with my system. The MSD digital window switch is turning the N2O on at the right RMP but even though the light goes out on the window switch at the right RPM the N2O is not shutting off until I let out of full throttle, then the TPS disengages.

Will it kill my tranny to run the 1/4 spraying all the way, even through shifts?

My car is a 2000 A4 Corvette with tranny built up good to 500RWHP but do not want to snap a drive shaft or mess the trans up just to get good times.

I imagine others are tired of saying it, so I'll take my turn.
You might want to try to use the search. Maybe even glance over the first few pages in this forum. The same question was asked a few days ago and is still on the first page.

My personal opinion is. Its better to load the transmission once then to turn it off and on shocking it.

Now that is the first time I have heard it put that way. Hell I might just try it.

I've always agreed with that philosophy as well. But then again, I have a built tranny.

How big of a shot was it? I'm running a 150-200 shot through the shifts on my stock A4 and haven't had a problem. Probably sprayed it 30+ times through shifts.

I also see you're an 08'er, what part? I'm over around Manor and China Grade Loop.

I spray 300 through my PG. LOL

When I had a 4L60E, I sprayed 150 through a built one for over a year. I was running 6.2's/6.3's in the 1/8 mile with it.

Well it is a good way to think but it is not true. Usually it is not a hard part that breaks in these trannies. It is more then likely alway going to take the 3/4 clutches out. More power of anykind will prematurely wear on the 3/4 clutch pack (Expecially with torque management taken out). There is very little surface area on the 3/4 clutch pack drum for the piston to apply. Therefore it tries to slip without the extra apply that it needs for the added HP.

What I am saying is "If you spray through shifts, the transmission will not survive for as long as it would without spraying through shifts. If you add for pressure for the 3/4 clutch apply you will eventually take out the pump. Either one of them can go at any time."

I have gone through every transmission you can think of and I know alot about all of them. You will go faster if you spray through the shifts though. My vote is to go ahead and do it but be prepared to repair the tranny.

fredv, you can use a window switch, or manually turn on and off, or let off the throttle to close the WOT switch. 3 way and I use none of them.

My stock A4 lasted over a year with nitrous, out of the hole. Over 600+ passes too. It did lose 3-4 but look how much it took!

180shot, you must be running the nxl, and last time i checked, a wet 150 kit pulled harder out of the hole and all the way thru than the nxl 180....thats why i sold mine!

The window switch that people sell is a switch that will activate and deactivate your nitrous at your desired RPM's

MSD uses pills
Malory uses a dial

You set it at what rpm you want it to come on at and where you want it to shut off at. Most people set the shutoff rpm 100rpms shy of the shift point that way it the nitrous won't be on for the shift.

Does that help you out?

Fred said he had a window switch for his M6. MSD now has a digital window switch PN8969 that eliminates pills now.

Fred, there are lots of people that believe you shouldn't spray through shifts in fear of damaging their tranny, and there are others like me who don't care.
