Default MSD window switch?

How many of you guys are using one in a Auto car? I have one and i am thinking about selling it. I couldnt decide if i wanted to spray through the shifts but i think i am. The tranny is going to go again no matter what. I have a 3500 stall with a WOT switch so i dont have to worry about the juice coming in early. Well what do you guys think i should do? Thanks

well i spray through the shifts on my stock tranny. for the last 5 months it's been at the 200 level. took the tranny out today because i lost 2nd gear. had my tranny guy pull it apart only to find out the 3-4 gear clutches got worn too much. new they are .080". they are at .065" right now. there are 6 clutches in the 3-4 gear set. so, that added up to .090" loss. it's getting rebuilt right now to withstand the torture. they really weren't burnt either. the band for 2nd gear you can see signs of slipping on it and the drum. not enough pressure applied. so, something in the valvebody or solenoid. just all the hard upshifts from 1st to 2nd slipping caused it. tranny had 60k on it. get a good shift kit or use a handheld tuner to up the pressure to firm the shifts to help out. i'll never stop spraying through the shifts.

Even if you dont spray through shifts I would still run it.This way if the tranny slips it will shut off the nitrous before hitting rev limiter.

i agree with nitro dave i hit the limiter b/c i didn't have a window switch and took a half moon shape out on a valve broke a valve guide and a valve seat not to expensive in parts but pulling the heads on a ls1 is a b*tch better safe than sorry you have it already so spend 30mins and put it on.

I have a rev limiter on the Venom system and a redline of 6800

But yes, your right, I did not think of that one...

I did think about that but i figured if it does hit the rev limiter which on my car is set pretty high at 6700rpm, that just means its time to rebuild the tranny because its slipping really bad. I probably should keep it but i dont think i am.

Ok so if the tranny slips and you hit revlimiter it cuts off fuel supply. No fuel with the nitrous still on you will also be rebuilding the motor at the same time.So now you have spent around 5000 to 7000 dollars fixing something you could have prevented at no additional cost because you already have the part. Take the time and put it on.Dont become one of the guys that says man I wish I would have put a windowswitch on there.

Word's from the wise. You should head them. Like I always say, a window switch is CHEAP insurance for your motor when your on the bottle. Set it up to spray through your shifts if you want. Just have it turn off before your PCM turns off your injectors.

So you think it will blow my motor if it hits the rev limiter once or maybe twice? I didnt think it could go that fast. I mean if i am racing and i see the rpm gauge go past 6500 i am going to just let off but i see where your coming from. I might re-think this and keep it. Thanks for all the replies and advice.

imo the motor is too much money to play with when you already have the safety stuff. And I believe it will blow the motor with a few hits off the limiter

If you ever snap a drive shaft or your axles, or bust up your rearend, you think you can catch it before it hit your limitor then? It is worth every dime and every second of install time. We're just lookin out for ya bud! We all hate seein, "Blew my motor the other night!" in post topics.

what usually goes when you hit the rev limiter? i hit mine many times on a 150 shot on my old set up (stock with bolt ons) and i just messed upi the valve train which is still a problem pain in the *** to pull the heads.

I have seen people float a valve beaking valve spring, bending pushrod, and even cracking a piston. But thats not what we are worried about with nitrous. The problem is on nitrous the motor climbs in RPMs much faster if the tranny slipped it would climb so high so fast you would over rev the motor possibly doing the damage we stated but worse Rev limiter cuts fuel supply. So with no fuel and still spraying it will create a lean condition. Most of the time when this happens you either burn a valve or melt a piston. All that could have been prevented if you just installed a BMN controller or MSD window switch.
